Call the Midwife Uniform in Dressmaker
galleryI saw the poofy sleeve option in Dressmaker and knew I had to recreate The London’s incredible uniform in early seasons!

So this is the first time I've watched the show all the way through to Series 12. Obviously this is when Lucille exits and i'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense to me.
Let me preface by saying that Lucille was never my favorite. Sister Frances was the last of the midwives that depart that I love.
This depression that seems to have a hold of Lucille doesn't make any sense. Like I get that she miscarried and that's hard but it hasn't been continuous since that event happened. And all of a sudden she wants to go back to Jamaica? I don't know why but this storyline is annoying me.
I'll be glad to see her gone. For those of you who have watched past this point, what do I have to look forward to?

“Not half something” means you are something, I think.
Like, “you are not half old-fashioned.”
Means “you’re quite old-fashioned.”
And “in hand” means “ i’ve got it taken care of.”
Which honestly, I don’t think I can use in a sentence yet. Lol.
Maybe something like , “did you buy the tickets yet?” “Don’t worry. I’ve got it in hand.”

Series 9 on Netflix has Christmas Special 2020 at the BEGINNING of the series, but it is supposed to be at the end and contains A LOT of spoilers for s9! Sorry for the awful picture, but luckily I have seen this series twice over!

Wilma has finally got her daughters all in school/daycare and has started a new career as a corset specialist. And apparently is doing very well because she was even recognized as a top performer.
She’s secretly taking the birth control pill because she is DONE having kids.
Secretly because her husband is still expecting a son out of her.
When she was in the kitchen he was ogling her like she was a piece of meat.
Wilma is lying on her deathbed, and her doofus husband says,”She can’t be taking contraception. She is supposed to give me a son. “
I imagine he’s going to find a young woman to remarry to give him that son, plus take care of the three daughters he already has.
Poor Wilma.

Does anyone else think it's odd that Nurse Dyer gets taken on because she was an army nurse without any midwifery background?

These stories make me cry so much. Share your favorite episodes or the episodes that made you cry the hardest.

I have watched the entire show, and no one has a place in my heart like Nurse Chummy. That's all.

I’ve only recently started watching so missed out on a lot of the news around casting as the new series rolled around. But I’m wondering who chose to leave vs the writers just decided that for the character.
I can see some obvious choices to leave (like Jenny, Chummy and Sister Evangelina) but others seemed a bit out of the blue or unresolved so made me wonder whether the actor couldn’t/wouldn’t come back or wasn’t asked (like Cynthia).
I’m also guessing Delia didn’t come back because Patsy wasn’t available, similar to how Sergeant Noakes had a drastically reduced role then chose to leave after Chummy didn’t come back.

I so miss Lucille and now I’m watching the season with Nurse Highland. All I can say, as someone from New Jersey with a New Jersey accent, their beautiful, melodic accents would 💯make me feel better. I miss Lucille but Nurse Highland is lovely.

Vote for your favorite Lost Nurse of CTM💙.
Unfortunately there are only 6 options so I had to leave out a few. Feel free to give a shout out if you are compelled.

Rewatching Season 11 and in episode 3 I found myself coveting one outfit after another that Shelagh was wearing. The first two were really spectacular but there are also a couple of nice sleeveless dresses towards the end of the episode. I think she had 5 different outfits (plus maybe her uniform). I find it funny since her role in the episode was not large, and then two episodes later she is organizing a jumble sale and saying that people nowadays wear things twice and then they are in the bin. I’d love her castoffs!
It’s also funny because in that series Helen George was pregnant and she almost never removed her cape. I guess they had to spend their clothing budget somewhere!

I just need to get this off my chest as I watch season 15. Goodness I LOVE Helen George, she is amazing but man that wig is doing NOTHING good for our fashionable Trixie lol it’s driving me nuts! Helen has such beautiful hair in real life. I get that her hair style doesn’t match the times but man oh man I hope they fix that lol

I currently rewatch CTM and just went past the episode with Lynette Duncan, the pregnant, curly, red haired, teenage girl with the two little brothers and a baby brother, who was supposed to play the "senior angel" at the nativity play... (who got to keep her Baby) and thought to myself afterwards she looks very similar to the new actress who is playing Freds first wife Betty...
IT'S THE SAME ACTRESS!!!
I love this!

I like it when Jenny is a character and there is actually cause for it. I am also a lover of the books so a lot of the verbiage from the first few series are plucked or put together from the books but after she leaves it becomes overly saccharine and sometimes entirely detached from the plot.
It's almost something just to say something.

I love call the midwife, I'm on my second watch through. And will be sad once I'm up to date again.
Can anyone recommend any shows that are similar set in time? But I'm not a fan of medical/hospital dramas (I like midwifery)
I love the lack of excessive fake drama, less affairs. I like the lack of technology back then. Family life. A comfort cosy show.
I have on demand, Amazon, Netflix, Sky, Disney+
Thanks

I loved this show. I cried every episode I think. I started my nursing training in 1974 and it makes me feel very old that the show finished just before I started nursing. I kept looking at the hospital and theatre scenes in the final series thinking that looks really old fashioned but I lived those times! Anyway I just watched the final series (was saving it up). Does anyone else feel it tried to fit too much in? I know they were trying to tie up a lot of loose ends but just feel as tho it could have had a couple of extra episodes so it didn’t feel so rushed.

The raffle drawing always gets me because it's in a glass jar and the winning one will have a picture of Julie Andrews on the back... Wouldn't it be easy to select winning ticket? Not a big deal but for some reason that stuck in my head.
