Ask for Advice NDA in order to volunteer?
Hey all, just looking for some input here. I'm considering volunteering for a gubernatorial campaign, however they are requiring an NDA in order to do so. Is this unusual? I've worked on multiple other campaigns that didn't require one and this is giving me some pause. Thanks!

Is this just a don’t share the voter or campaign lists or a full NDA because those are very different things.

It depends how trusted of a volunteer you're going to be; if you're handling data or sensitive information, it could be for those purposes. It's uncommon, but not unheard of in my experience.

Incredibly unusual. The only two times I have signed an NDA were for very high level roles with very specific scopes that didn’t involve the campaign itself.
This is a red flag if you’re just a normal volunteer.

Depends on the kind of volunteering you’re doing/the size of the office. If you’re just knocking doors or phonebanking that’s super weird, if you’re gonna be helping with office work or working in a small space where you might overhear sensitive conversations, that’s not too out of pocket
