Hi. I was wondering what your picks are if you could form a dream Canadian band. You can pick from different genres and eras. You can even pick a solo artist as your vocalist if you wish. Only rule is to not pick two members from the same band. Also, I am okay with picking 2 instead of 1 vocalist. This allows the potential of co-leads, back-ups vocals, duets, or harmonies as part of your band's sound.
A few years ago a music video came out called Out for a rip. I can still see remnants of the video on youtube but the original music video isnt on YouTube. Seems like the channel is gone too. I read about some law suit with Coca cola, could that have something to do with it? Does anyone know what happened?
Check out American Bombs, a song off Glenn's upcoming album. Powerful stuff! The discordant sound is intentional, and meant to match the feel of the message. Does it express the current sentiment among Canadians?
I'm QUIETLOVE, an independent artist from Toronto (originally Hamilton!), and I just found out my song “Hot Mess” is getting featured on the iHeartRadio Top 20 with Shannon Burns across 11 Virgin Radio stations this Sunday, October 18th.
I've been releasing music independently for years, so hearing something I made in my little home studio is about to play across the country is pretty surreal. 😭
I made this ridiculous little video asking Canadians to help me catch it happening live.
If you're in one of the 11 cities, it'll be airing sometime between 10–11am local time. If you happen to hear it, I'd genuinely love a video!
Anyway, just wanted to share a little Canadian indie music win. Thanks for letting me celebrate it here. ❤️
I just listened to an episode of Toronto Mike where he interviewed Jaymz Bee. If you're a regular listener, he has this running joke question "Is Jaymz Bee famous?" Mike likes to focus on Canadian musicians/bands whose height was in the mid to late 90s. Although Jaymz is well connected (he namedropped many famous names and projects he was involved with) that was a bit before my time.
I have to do a deep dive into a musician for an assignment and there are two criteria.
1 - they must be at least locally famous
2 - they must be from Toronto
I’m looking for someone that has had an interesting career or story. My top picks so far are Raine Maida or The Weeknd, but I am open to other suggestions. Who would you pick to dive into?
I see Burton is already back to performing solo but I would argue he never stopped performing solo because that's what the reunion felt like.
The reunion felt like a Burton Cummings solo show where Randy just happened to be one of his musicians. It felt like such a letdown. Randy did the best he could I guess but it was just too late for this reunion to happen sadly. Thoughts?
So my band recently finished a vinyl record and we have a few orders for the vinyl in Europe that we have to fulfill.
Canada Post informed me that they are not shipping parcels to Germany right now. I looked up ups and dhl, although they ship, they are far too expensive.
Does anyone have any advice on how to ship these? And also any advice on shipping in general? Appreciate advice! Thx!
After working on my lyrics and music for several years, I've finally decided to release something concrete. This is my first track, and there will be more to come.
I've been writing for fun for several years, mainly lyrics that have a double meaning and evoke emotions.
