✍️ Discussion The CPL matches usually on CBC Gem are starting to be broadcasted on the main channel

I guess that means the numbers are doing well on CBC Gem!

That’s great. CBC in general is also just looking for more sports right now since Rogers pulled the plug on Hockey Night in Canada. Would be cool if next year we could even get a couple prime time games to replace that.

Would enjoy Footy at Night on CBC although evenings in October can get pretty chilly around here.

This was scheduled back at the start of the season, so isn’t an indication of viewership over the last several months.

This. Also, it's not starting. The first was during Matchweek 24.

Correct, nothing new here. Ex opener, games on Gem till September and then games were likely to be flexed to CBC tv in October.

While Gem has some quality shows from the past 20 years like also Tubi, it doesn't yet get viewers for anything ex Olympics. CBC even refused freedom of info requests to release specific Gem subs/viewing data. After CRTC ruled it must, CBC has taken CRTC to court.

CBC tv has low viewing hours with average Canadian watching less than 1 hour per week in CBC's fiscal Q1 this year. Gem only accounts for 5% of a low CBC linear + digital total viewing hours.

This already started last month with NSL matches.
