Robbed in Santa Maria, Sal

Just as a warning to others, I was robbed/pickpocketed yesterday in Funana, a guy I met maybe an hour prior and danced with stole my wallet out of my hand and ran away with it.

Please be careful. I lost my bank card and the cash I had in the wallet. After 3 trips to Santa Maria maybe I got too relaxed and was not careful enough.

The place doesn't have cameras?

I remember in Praia of a similar situation, dancing with someone and then pickpocketing, didn't even notice.

Not that I know of. I spoke with multiple staff members and security and they basically just shrugged and pointed me to signs that say to watch your bags and wallets.

Dancing with people who you met  just one hour, and showing your wallet, that can happen anywhere. Knowing someone takes a bit more time.

I didn't show him my wallet. He first took it out of my hand bag without me noticing, then threw it on the floor (whilst pretending to help me find it), and when I picked it up he stole it again. It was a very confusing situation.

Sorry this happened to you. Hope you can track him at some point or get a name. So disgusting to do that to someone.

Did you call the police? Its a small island. He cant go far

I spoke with police literally 2 minutes later as they were in front of Funana, they said to contact them if I find out his full name... I have no photo of his face or full name so they said they can't help. Later I spoke with more policemen on the main street and they said the same.

Yeah useless. Id check cameras nearby if available. You should be able to describe them but i dont think police there can handle that
