16 days solo in Cape Verde (Jan/Feb 2027) – does this route make

Hello!

I'm planning my first Cape Verde trip as a solo traveler. I'm into hiking and local culture, with a few beach days at the end to wind down.

Planned route: Fly Amsterdam → Sal (direct, easyJet), same day domestic flight to São Vicente for 2–3 nights in Mindelo, then ferry to Santo Antão for 6 nights of hiking. Ferry back to São Vicente, domestic flight to Sal for 3 relaxed beach days before flying home.

Does this route make sense, or would you change anything? I'm also struggling with the domestic flights — the Cabo Verde Airlines website only shows Praia as a destination from Sal, not São Vicente directly. Is that normal, and how do you usually book these? And how far in advance would you recommend booking for January/February?

Any tips welcome! 🙏

CV Sky not Cabo Verde Airlines for domestic flights

Sounds well balanced. Keep those final days on Sal as a buffer before flying home. Check CV Sky for domestic flights instead of Cabo Verde Airlines. Book once your dates are firm.

Flights and ferries change/get cancelled frequently, making the archipelago less than ideal to island hop. With that in mind, what are your plans if any of your flights/ferries get cancelled?

He is only having Mindelo to Sao Antao ferry. These do not get cancelled much.

Thanks, that´s good to know. Maybe I reconsider Fogo or planning some more buffer days and see if it´s possible spontaneously

Im doing a very similar one, will fly to Sal and then already bought ticket to São Vincente, planning to take ferry to Santo Antão later!
I’m considering Fogo before flying back to Sal!
