Are we really doing the world hates super/supers are illegal thing again? I feel like Marvel does a version of this every ten years.

They really don't know how to set this off any other way, huh?

At this point Marvel needs a MAJOR reset, DC style.

Depending on which ones you count, the number of times DC has done anything close to a hard reboot is either...zero, or one. And the one that comes closest happened in either 1956 or 1961.

CoIE, Zero Hour, IC, Flashpoint, whatever Convergence was, and any others you care to include all did, once the dust settled, basically nothing. Most of these made a couple vague changes (I know what happened to Joe Chill was something they kept going back and forth on for a while, and some of the endless rewrites of Krypton line up with these), but only CoIE and Flashpoint/N52 actually even tried to change anything. Crisis had some big changes, but for the most part still ended up keeping way more than it changed for most characters. Sometimes it took a while, there are plenty of characters who had a very different post-Crisis version in the 80s who ended up gradually having their classic versions pretty much restored over subsequent appearances (villains especially, there are like three contradictory versions of Killer Moth), but the simple fact is that they never want to tell people their favorite stories didn't happen. The same thing happened with N52, where they initially cut waaaaay back, but never actually said out loud what had been cut, resulting in at one point having a canon where, essentially, almost everything was still canon, it just all happened in five years somehow instead of ten. "We want Barbara back as Batgirl, but we don't want to magically cure her, but we also don't want to retcon Killing Joke" is, turns out, not a tenable position. You end up just having her be Batgirl again and spending a whole year pretending nothing weird is going on instead of explaining what actually happened.

So what kind of "DC style reboot," exactly? The ones they totally fucked up, or the ones that did nothing at all?

Dude, I’m dying for this person to respond.

It’s much worse than: ‘we don’t want to tell people their favorite stories never happened.’ Every single reboot has included a grievous failure to plan out even the simplest consequences of any given action.

Superman was never Superboy? Cool! How will that effect The Legion of Superheroes, which was founded on the concept of Superboy? Editorial shrugs until the knock-on effects become unavoidable. There are multiple examples, from every reboot, of issues that could have been anticipated by asking half-a-dozen fans at the local shop, but that people paid to think about it, never realized.

What does that even mean lol? DCs continuity is majorly convoluted. They’ve undone every relaunch.

It means a reboot, one that doesn't erase the core traits but gives us a fresh history (and hopefully one where Peter and MJ can STAY married this time haha XD. Okay but no that was just an example though I would LOVE that)

I know what it means and I’m calling BS. DC has tried that repeatedly and every time we end up right back where we started.

I swear some of yall weren’t around for Flashpoint, New 52, Convergence, Rebirth, Doomsday Clock, etc. not to mention all that came before.

But somehow we always end back with Batman with 7 different sidekick. Green Arrow with a grown kid, and JSA in the present

Agreed, DC does it for sales and just goes right back to status quo. So it just seems pointless

Batman also has straight up never been fully rebooted.

He left the Crisis still on his second Robin and his first already Nightwing.

He left Flashpoint still on his 5th Robin.

Dude it’s crazy how often I see people use DC as the gold standard for continuity. Like what existence are they in. Outside of Magneto, which I’m hand waving away, the sliding timescale is the far superior narrative device.

And literally EVERY fan from every generation wants Spidey to change and mature.

This issue is the reason we're getting the series, it will be a follow up to this event, and show Carol dealing with the aftermath

i'm not convinced carol is even present for this event.

Civil War 3 : Revenge of the Registration!

Tbh, I don’t think anyone should be looking forwards to the solo if GWW’s current run on Black Cat is any indicator of things to come.

(Also: I think Carol can rock the short hair :) )

I have also found her Poison Ivy to be horribly dull, despite the praise I've seen for it :///

It’s definitely a hit or miss.

A lot of older readers heavily dislike it from what I’ve seen, while new readers enjoy how it isn’t necessarily plot heavy.

I don’t really read GWW since she normally always has her own takes on the characters she writes, and doesn’t really care about previously existing character traits
