18 deals and you didn’t break $10k? Run, far far away and fast. This is terrible. I make that from 8 cars. Even with your draw, it’s only $64-6500ish. You need to find a new dealer dude, ASAP!

what really pisses me off is this is pre-tax too

7

u/Apprehensive-Cheek70 11d ago

Yeah dude, you should’ve ran like 6 months ago

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

ended up with almost a 3k check even

What kind of dealership do you work at?

I work at Audi/porsche. It’s not really abt the brand, more so the dealer group. If u are new to sales try and find a high volume non luxury store. I started with Tesla (which could be considered luxury to an extent, but way different from any other dealer in terms of sales process, I never reached out to leads I just had buyers) then moved to Hyundai for a couple years, sold Volvo’s and Cadillacs for a while and now I’m at Audi and plan to be here for a while. 10 cars will pay me roughly $10k at my current store. $500 minis for my pay plan + other shit (unit bonuses, appt bonuses, front end + back end, etc)

How did you like Hyundai? I’m at a Hyundai Genesis in South Florida but started September 1 and haven’t sold a car yet ( I did have to fly to Alaska for a family emergency at the end of the month thoof)

Just be real with yourself. How many Genesis vehicles do you see per day? How many Hyundai vehicles do you see per day? If you’re mostly selling Hyundai, I would just stick with that and learn the ins and outs of it. If you are at Genesis currently and mainly sell Genesis then leave. They make nice cars, but unfortunately, not enough people want them. Subaru has a bunch of cult like clients that are die hard for their brand. That would be a good start. If you have any in your area with a decent pay plan/volume.

It is a Hyundai/Genesis dealership. So it has both. Obviously we have way more Hyundai vehicles, and I like them a lot. Honestly, the design is great. But I also do love Genesis as well. They are very intriguing to me. So right now I am certified in Hyundai, because I’ve done all the course material and I’ve presented quite a few of them now, but still always learning every trim and detail.
The top two guys at my work make close to 20 grand each month, and they have a wife and kids, meanwhile it’s just me alone lol. I don’t even have a husband or kids! So if they can do it, I should be able to do it right?!

100%. Not sure how long you’ve been there, but by month 3 or 4 you should have a good enough pipeline and product knowledge to make minimum $7500 per month

And assuming you’re a female, use it to your advantage. If I was a female with my current selling skills… I’d pair it with men’s fragile ego’s - you’d be the best salesperson there! Takes some time to get really good, but stick it out. Sales completely changed my life financially in the quickest amount of time. I’m only 24 (selling cars for 4.5 years now) but the last time I made less than 6 figures in a year was 2020 going into 2021

1

u/Due-Adeptness1174 10d ago

Okay cool! I did tell myself id stuck it out for at least a year or two and see how I do. I am a woman and I’m 25, so pretty close. Idk how I’d pair it with their fragile egos lol but sure 😂
Thanks for the advice!

What made you move on from Tesla? Good place to start? Did you like Hyundai?

You are getting fisted.

2

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

Ah that makes sense

4

u/Fabkid22 11d ago

I would have made well over 10k on that many deals at
My dealer but every dealer is different on gross and a

18 cars at my dealership minimum 10k

3

u/Current_Temperature4 11d ago

I sold 11 cars last month and only got paid $1100... Starting to feel like my pay plan sucks...

1

u/ScarcityExpensive477 11d ago

My dealership averages $500 commission per vehicle sold. Average salesman here sells about 15-18 cars a month

1

u/Current_Temperature4 11d ago

Oh wow that's pretty decent! The more I read these posts the more I feel in getting scammed. I'm in a Ford dealership in the fairly small town off Ashland Ohio and even though I'm not a year in yet I still feel I could be making way more than I am.

1

u/ScarcityExpensive477 11d ago

The number you gave wasn’t a typo, right? You only made $1,100 commission after selling 11 cars? 😔

1

u/Current_Temperature4 11d ago

It wasn't a typo. I'm paid a base salary of $2k a month (might as well be $1500 after taxes) and bonuses on top of each car I sell. $50 till I reach 12. I'll try to post my pay plan.

3

u/ScarcityExpensive477 11d ago

Oh no….. you might as well work full time at Walmart... That is absolutely unreal. I’m so sorry. I would immediately be looking for another job. Wow

1

u/Current_Temperature4 11d ago

So I'm kind of new to reddit too so can't really figure out how to post my picture but yeahhh. I'm completely new to sales as in this is my first year after coming out of a plastic factory for 8 and a half years. Trying to at least get a full year in which hits December and then I'll have the experience to hopefully go somewhere else.

2

u/ScarcityExpensive477 11d ago

I totally understand your standpoint on experience. If you’re still able to take care of yourself I’m all for it! Good luck in your future endeavors! You will deserve it for sure.

1

u/Current_Temperature4 11d ago

Thank you I very much appreciate it! I have a wife, a 2 year old, and 2 month old twins to take care of so I'm barely scraping by lol. If I'm missing out like that though I guess I'm going to have to move here soon. Appreciate the feedback though! Keep crushing it!

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

Don't feel bad, I just got my check today and after draw and taxes I kept exactly $3,058 off of 18 cars.

2

u/Current_Temperature4 10d ago

Seems like you're in the same boat I am... that's not great at all.. I'm sorry.

3

u/Scubatee446 11d ago

I did 15-16k last month two more units than you

Hey man is this goauto by any chance? This commission structure is one of the worst I’ve seen. All your deals are flat which is normal these days. But with flats that low there should be a much better volume bonus structure. If including bonus finance office spiffs you’re not make an average of 500 per car, you should take your skills somewhere else. Pushing out 18 cars these days at an Audi/porsche dealer ain’t easy. I work in the industry and know how stressful it can be and how much effort it takes from booking em in to getting the sale, approvals, delivery and so on. You were even salesman of the month. Last month I delivered 11 cars and made 6500 for 18 cars this commission is really bad.

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

I do all this while doing college online full time, don’t ask me how I keep my sanity.

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

Also it’s Nissan

1

u/Consistent-Bottle-95 11d ago

Did 17 cars last month and made 21000 total. I would say you are underpaid

1

u/silentraccoon63 11d ago

I sold 15 and did a little over 8 before my bonus. After my dealership bonus and my bonus from General Motors I’ll be over 11.

1

u/The-Dudemeister 11d ago

I mean. Yall are giving a way cars. I had a bad month. Only 4 cars. Made 7k. But my gross was like 50k. You sold 18 and grossed negative 5600.

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 11d ago

They switched to a flat rate pay plan shortly after I arrived because they couldn't keep salesman.

1

u/csp911 11d ago

At a Porsche dealership with 18 units you should have made 20k easy. Are you just whoring out Macans?

1

u/Emergency-Lynx5561 11d ago

Why did you get $500 AR?

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 10d ago

Deduct $500 from my commission check, that’s my bonus for being salesman of the month.

1

u/Apprehensive-Beat922 11d ago

Run away from Nissan store bro😭 I switched over to a Hyundai store in MN and my YTD is 90k with this upcoming commission check.

1

u/BRAV0_07 10d ago

I did 15 last month and my bonus check alone was $8700.

1

u/OddEconomics7359 10d ago

This reminds me of selling 19 and making $3,800 gross lmfao

1

u/EquivalentFalse8671 10d ago

Last time I sold 18 I made $14k, I know people who have made even more. Run far away

1

u/Hagoha 10d ago

Hold better gross. Anyone can give away a car.

1

u/Resident-Switch8030 9d ago

I don’t really discount my vehicles, we’re paid flat rates.

1

u/Primary-Dealer-1268 10d ago

Once of my sales guys sold 17 last month and made 11k prior month he sold 30 and made 24k you 100% need to find a different pay plan

1

u/SilverLengthiness873 8d ago

in the most respectful and humble way possible, gtfo outta there 😂 i sold same amount of cars last month and made 11 gs

1

u/Old-Relationship-784 7d ago

I made 10K cad and delivered 13.5 cars. That is not good at all.

1

u/JackShepardJohnLocke 5d ago

About how many hours of work is that?

2

u/Resident-Switch8030 5d ago

65-70/week

1

u/JackShepardJohnLocke 4d ago

Dang, do you ever feel like working less for less pay?

0

u/heckmelech 10d ago

You’re making $200 per vehicle you sale?

If you send me 19 clients I will pay you $500 per client you send me for a total of $9,500. Plus a bonus every 5cars you send. This is perfect for people who want to work from home and at their preferred times.

Direct message if you’re interested.
