Autumn in Denmark is pretty neat if you love dark and rainy, because that is what it turns into to. In fact, that is the weather right now as I look out my window :P Seems like the perfect occasion to pull out and read Beowulf, which is a traditional Autumn book for me (not for anyone else afaik)

Yeah, autumn and winter are seasons big for hygge. Quite frankly, winters in Denmark can be very dreary, so it is the little things that keep you going... On the bright side, it's also very peaceful and quiet in the evenings, so one has a lot of time for self reflection.

It's a great concept, kind of off-putting that she's trying to make hygge her brand though... but regardless her description of it was interesting. I think everyone knows hygge, but the Danes named it, you know?

Norwegians have the same concept and word but use koselig more often I think. When you're eating a nice dinner with friends with lit candles while it's snowy outside, du koser deg. That's koselig.

Hygge as a concept reminds me of 90's/vaporwave aesthetics. Not because they're alike, but because they both produce these introspective, sort of melancholy, peaceful feelings. You can buy or have things that contribute to the mood they create, but to go out of your way to buy something that's marketed as hygge or aesthetic would defeat the point of it. They're feelings that just happen. And I love them both.

I'd love to experience autumn in a different country. See how other cultures celebrate the seasonal changes. Denmark looks so beautiful in pictures, I'd be very fortunate to travel there someday.

Edit: spelling

Love it as well! Knitted socks and sweaters. Beanies, flannels, my Dr. Martens.. I just love it. Also as a person that overheats so so easily, and also has allergies, it's great. I don't sweat profusely, because of sun, or too much clothes to keep from freezing. I will smile like a huge dork, when walking through a big pile of leafs. And any excuse to watch Tim Burton movies, Hocus Pocus and Labyrinth. I'M SO PSYCHED!!! Edit: a word.

Dark and rainy is actually my all time favorite weather! I find the sound of rain relaxing and I dig when it's dark because I'm so light sensitive it's normally a bit painful when the sun is out lol. Plus, as you said, there's never a better time to be all cozy and lazy at home. Now if only I could convince my friends and family how nice it is...

Yeah, same! My eyes are light grey, so the irises don't do a very good job of filtering light. Bright sunlight usually makes me squint, so the overcast weather is a bit of a blessing. A rainy evening is such a nice time to do stuff! ^~^

Autumn in Seattle is similar, I was homesick while living in Norway because the weather was too good!

I had the pleasure to live in Seattle for a few years, and it reminds me a lot of Denmark. Same overcast weather and even the people share some similarities, it was like home away from home. Well, a more lively version, which was a good thing ^~^

Sadly I've never been to Denmark, but I felt like Seattle and Oslo were twins. They had a very similar vibe. I think people here aren't as outgoing as other Americans as well.
