Update The CDS bulk delivery is completely exhausted after their first official vet check-up today!
For anyone who missed our first post, the Cat Distribution System hit us with a bulk delivery this week! We went from having zero indoor cats to suddenly taking in Mama and her 5 little "Ninja Kittens." Living and doing rescue work out here near the border, street animals are a common sight, but having this entire family show up seeking a safe place to rest was the most beautiful surprise. We knew getting them a proper medical evaluation was our top priority so they could finally relax.
Today was the big day, and we successfully got Mama and all 5 babies to the clinic! The vet did a full check-up, started the kittens on some much-needed vitamins and dewormer, and advised us to hold off on vaccines for one more month so they can build up some more strength first. Mama will also get her pre-spay blood work done next week. It was a big, stressful adventure for them, but right now, they are just enjoying a very well-deserved, completely safe nap together in their transport basket! ❤️

The Cat Distribution System really hit me with a bulk delivery this time! 😅 Taking in a whole street family wasn't the plan, but we are making it work. If anyone wants to follow their journey from the streets to safety, I keep a full daily rescue log and vet updates pinned right to my profile!

They are lovely! Did the vet say anything about their coloring? It's rare to see all the kittens of a litter look the same unless they are purebreeds. They look so interesting.

The mother of these kittens and the kittens themselves are all ticked tabbies. This pattern is common among domestic cats in Southeast Asia and India. The ticked tabby pattern is dominant over all other tabby patterns or solid colors; homozygous ticked tabbies (which the mother likely is) can only produce ticked kittens.

I was gonna speculate that somebody's Abyssinian got outside and got busy.

u/Due_Armadillo_8616 Aug 10 '26
They are not Abyssinians, although there are certainly similarities. The Abyssinian breed actually originated from crossing this type of ticked tabby domestic cat from Southeast Asia / India with English domestic cats.

Yeah, first thing that came to my mind, too. Ticked tabby is not that common in the US, as far as I know.

I've never wanted to put my face in some 🐈 in my life more than I do right now.

Haha totally understandable! 😻 The ultimate temptation is definitely burying your face right into that soft kitten pile.

u/Repulsive-Cry2968 Aug 09 '26
Ha ha they really do!❣️ Tiny miniature mountain lions. Their coats have such a cool wild pattern to them!

I mean I could be totally off but with those ears could they possibly be Somali or Abyssinian?

Just street cats here in Jaigaon, no known breed mix, but natural variation gives them that look.

That's so cool! They are gorgeous, we don't have any street cats that look like that at all here where I live in Minnesota.

I know, right? I love my American standard issue tabby cat but it's amazing to see what is considered a common, street cat in other parts of the world. These lil dudes are amazingly cute.

How in the world did you manage to transport them in an open basket without them all climbing out?!?!?

Oh, my, how do you tell the kittens apart? I can't recall the last time I saw such an identical color and pattern litter.

Look at all those big ears!! I love when the ears are too big for their little bodies in the kitten phase. Adorbs.

I had a foster fail ticked tabby like this and she was the absolute best. Sweet personality, loving, smart, and an amazing mom- raised her little ones, then took over for a mom with mastitis and nursed and mothered the other mom’s babies. Just a perfect lady in every aspect.

LOL - enjoy the little ones while they all fit in one laundry basket for transport. They are absolutely beautiful! I hope one person takes 2, and one person takes 3, unless one person takes Mom and a kitten.

Could I adopt one? I miss having a cat in my house and I promise myself when my partner and I get our own place, I'm getting a cat before any furniture.

I saw the comment on the first post and didn't see it then but as the mom of an Abyssinian your babies totally look like Aby mixes. Although Abys came from SEA so more likely my Aby is a mix od your street cats :)
