Can you buy a flea comb for a few bucks and use dawn ?

Yes please use dawn dish soap and a flea comb that is the best option for a kitten. Please do not use flea meds unless prescribed by vet because the doses are really specific for kittens

Okay I’m going to try and see how that works. Do you know how long will this treatment last?

You will have to keep doing it until you can get them to a rescue or vet. But, before immersing them into the soapy bath water, squirt soap around their necks. It keeps fleas from moving up to their head. Then, flea comb their head. You can also put cotton balls into their ears before the bath to limit hiding spots. Keep bathing them a washing their bedding until you get rid of them

I actually spent my last on some flea and tick spray and it just doesn’t seem as effective like I thought it would be

Would you happen to have any rescues nearby that may be able to help?

Try Stray Cat Alliance in LA. They may have resources for you

Spray? Like human bug repellent spray? Or is this a product that is made for animals? Because human bug spray on an animal will kill the animal when it starts licking it off the fur

It’s for animals, no human bug spray

If you are willing to foster the kitten, like can keep and take care of it (other than financial parts), lead with that when reaching out to the rescues. LA rescues right now are overcrowded and don't have enough fosters. But I learned from someone in the feral cat subreddit that a lot of times they will cover the medical aspects of the cat if you are willing to provide housing and care for it until they can find it a forever home.

Try contacting these local rescues to see if they have room: A Cat's Tale - Los Angeles Actors & Others for Animals - North Hollywood Tiny Tigers Rescue - Los Angeles Mandy’s Paws Rescue - Los Angeles Cat Cove Rescue - Long Beach Cats Craddle Rescue - Ventura Anthropawlogy Animal Rescue - Canoga Park Cat Connection - Sherman Oaks Catmandoo Rescue: (310) 569-8404 Cats, Inc. - Los Angeles CSUN Cat People - Northridge Forgotten Animals of Los Angeles - Toluca Lake Friends for Animals - North Hollywood Fur Baby Rescue: (213) 840-0153 Inland Valley Humane Society - Pomona Kitty Kommittee - Hollywood LA Community Cats - Los Angeles Lange Foundation: (310) 473-5585 Lifeline for Pets - Pasadena Purrfect Partners - Redondo Beach Sante D’Or: (323) 898-8889 The Cat Posse - Pasadena Valley Cats, Inc. - West Hills Voice for the Animals Foundation - Santa Monica Volunteers of Burbank Animal Shelter - Burbank

The Kitten Rescue listed above also offers a Community Foster Program: https://kittenrescue.org/community-foster-program/ this is a great option for someone who has found a cat and is willing to invest the time but might need some help in the resource department. The process works like this. The finder of the kitten lists their kitten with Kitten Rescue. They become the foster for that kitten, Kitten Rescue will give them resources including helping compensate for medical costs when needed. The kitten is listed with them, the finder has access to their in store and in kitten cafe events. The adoption is processed through the Kitten Rescues process. They do require the fosters to have the cats vaccinated, tested, microchipped and at some point spayed or neutered. But they offer vaccines and testing through their org, also flea meds. And they have resources for low cost spay and neuters/microchipping and will reimburse the foster up to the amount of the adoption fee any of those costs if needed.

Kitty of Angels has a wonderful resource page: https://www.kittyofangels.org/community-resources.html Orange County Animal Allies also has a great resource page: https://www.ocanimalallies.org/get-help/

We also suggest using this link Search for Animal Shelters & Rescue Groups | Petfinder. This can help you find other rescues/shelters local to you that may be able to help. We hope this information is of assistance to you. We appreciate all the hard work you continue to do for the cats in your community! Please reach out to us with any follow up questions.

You'll need to give it a bath with a flea shampoo and have it wear a flea collar. Good luck. It's a beautiful kitten who found you

Hello, this is not the correct advice and could cause serious harm to a kitten like poisoning

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause any harm to the kitty. I'm from New Orleans, that's what we do since fleas are all over the inside outside. Maybe the best advice would be from a vet.
