Lost Kitty [Cook, Illinois] Lost cat?

X-posted in r/Evanston. Looking to see if this is anyone's cat or if there are any resources to get him rescued. Very sweet boy.

Since he’s friendly and may need medical attention, I’d contact these no-kill shelters and cat rescues about foster placement and eventual adoption:

Paws and Claws Cat Rescue (Evanston): https://www.pawsandclawscatrescue.org/
Foster-based rescue that provides veterinary care, including for cats awaiting treatment.

Evanston Animal Shelter: https://evanstonanimalshelter.net/
Open-admission, no-kill shelter with stray intake and a foster program. Stray intake depends on where he was found.

Cat-Tastrophe Charities (Chicago): https://www.cattastrophecharities.org/
Foster-based rescue experienced with street cats, medical care, and adoption placement.

Harmony House for Cats (Chicago): https://www.harmonyhouseforcats.org/
No-kill, cat-only shelter. Contact them to ask about intake or referrals.

Tree House Humane Society (Chicago): https://treehouseanimals.org/
Cat-focused shelter with adoption and foster programs.

I’d contact several at once since space is limited. Explain that he’s friendly, has loose stool and may need a vet exam, and would ideally go into foster care and then be adopted. Please also have him scanned for a microchip and check local lost-pet groups in case he belongs to someone.

For ease of following from our community, any body text from the original post has been copied here:

"There is a very sweet male cat in our area (Austin/Sherman). He seems young and he's pretty dirty so I think he's been out for quite a bit. I fed him and he was very hungry. He's hesitant but friendly. He came to me for pets and got on my lap and everything. He's fully intact. Also seems to have some tummy issues. He had a bathroom break right after he ate and it wasn't solid.

If I didn't had a sick senior cat myself, I would try to get him in. If you know who he belongs to or if not, a place we could call that's not TNR, that would be great. He's 100% not feral and I would love to get him off the street.

Pics are not the best."

You could take him to the vet and see if he has a microchip.

Please take these steps to broaden your search of a lost/ found kitty: * If your kitty has a microchip contact the microchip company and be certain all your info is current. * On Reddit, make sure to include the general location and a picture to grab attention. Post in your local, area specific subreddit too. Share on local FB and Nextdoor. * Check and/ or make an inquiry with petcolove.org (it is free) AND PawBoost.com they use different databases and have a free option too, including a free flyer you can make. * Contact your local vets and shelters in a radius around you, not just the closest to you. And go to the shelters to check if someone turned in a "stray." You can find local shelters here -> link * Be aware there are scams where people falsely state they have your kitty. They don't. Read more about how to spot these scams here -> Link * If you have FOUND a kitty: shelters, many vets and any petco with a clinic will check for a microchip at no cost. And you can also follow the steps above to get the word out that you found a kitty.
