A Cessna 414A crashed shortly after takeoff from Boerne Stage Airfield on Oct. 2, 2026, clipping a utility pole before crashing and catching fire. Both pilots escaped uninjured.

They hit live power lines, then slammed into the ground hard enough to break the wings and let all the fuel out, which then caught on fire, and they just... walked away from that? Most unlikely survival story ever. All I can say is wow.

have you ever rode in a small plane? they're pretty tough and the seatbelts are strong. it wasn't that much of a crash anyway, aside from totaling the plane and the pole. the wing came off because it slammed the pole and the other one stayed attached from the look of it. unlikely they didn't get injured maybe, but they usually don't call bruises and scratches injuries from a crash.

This post has it all, bravo! The haughty dismissive arrogance, asserting that small planes are safe because they are "tough", that a conflagration that destroyed a plane and utility pole is "not that much of a crash", then the finishing flourish of just making up details of the story and asserting them as fact. I love it. This is art. Namaste

apparently you've never jumped out of a cessna. it shows. if you had, you'd have a very different attitude toward them and not be so scared of the ones with seats still inside. do try to have a nice day though.

Boy someone has never taken a physics class where they learned anything and it shows. Jumping out of a plane is very different from being in one when it suddenly stops moving. This example is closer to jumping out of a plane without a parachute than what you're thinking of. They hit the ground hard and the fuel ignited. Free falling through the air with a parachute is not the same as the sudden deceleration of a crash that is sufficient to break the plane apart...not to mention the fire.
Absolutely insane take to double down on.

and i appear to be talking to an idiot. i meant the shape of the planes are much worse than in general aviation. getting into a plane without seats, carpet, or anything but seatbelts and the seat for the pilot wondering if it really will get off the ground makes you appreciate the way they fly much more. i am actually scared to death of planes, stemming from almost watching a crash at my dropzone the same morning i learned about my friend, along with 10 others, burning on the strip in hawaii. ours almost didn't make it past the trees at the end of the runway. i wore a nomex jumpsuit for a year after that, like it would've helped anything. i've also been in a situation almost exactly like this one, but the plane clipped a tree limb instead of a power pole and we made it up. and i also have two physics classes taken as part of my degree, so you are batting 0 for 3 today. next time someone gives you a different perspective, maybe get down off of your high horse and listen because they may know a lot more than you think and a hell of a lot more than you do. now, piss off.

Did they go back to the future?

They were lucky to survive but it probably helped they were only going 88 miles per hour

It looked like the DeLorean coming back from the future. Glad they are okay.

Shocked that they were uninjured after going through what was clearly an HT line

it's why we shouldn't line a bunch of warehouses and business too close to the airport. like give it a 1 acre perimeter so stuff like this can work out.
that house in the foreground. he built that so nothing could happen. full fencing. a fort. castle. then this happened and i bet he moves feeling now he is exposed. his little mansion on the hill is now a crash path.

What lol?
An acre is about 200' x 200', this plane was 2000' past the end of the runway.

i tried to have fun and may find it also short of the house in the picture. just thinking that guy looks like he wants isolation and nothing disruptive in his life. then a plane bursts across his neighbors field and he now feels exposed and vulnerable.

are you about needing more room around an airport runway or are you about how stupid i am about this guy in the house starting to freak out?
i might have missed your 200x200 math thing - make it a mile?

Jeez! They should have flown higher; that way they would have avoided the pole.
Should have pulled on the yoke like that plumber guy. Didn't they watch Mayday?

Uninjured? That's amazing.
