My cats do this too when they want to jump up on a countertop but don't know what's up there. They will do this "recon mission" first, then do their actual jump once the area has been surveilled...

She’s doing some slowed eccentrics to work on her pull up form. God forbid a cat wants to get swole.

Haha I was hoping some fellow gym bros would appreciate it! Pls tell your cat she/he is silly and give them some pets

And I worry about the fitness of my 16 year old persian, seems to be obsolete worries, since she did a similar jump 4 hours ago w/o any issues. 🤣

Mine is 2 years old 🙄 she is terrible jumper but at least a great climber

Not every cat is a great jumper, especially indoor cats. Don't worry. 😊

I could never figure out if my Thor couldn’t jump, or if she simply knew that if she yowled long enough, I’d come in and lift her up wherever she wanted to go. She was truly a lazy cat who expended no more energy than was absolutely necessary.

Poor kitty. My cat has a congenital hip thing where he can't jump either. Also pretty clumsy, but I'm not sure where that comes from. Only cat I've ever had that will regularly just fall down off of things.

I don’t think we would have remodeled the house if we still had our fat cat that used her claws to make up for her lack of jumping.

Have his eyes checked.
I had a rabbit that seemed to not be able to jump onto things and it turned out she was almost blind.

He jumped. Just not confident enough to believe in himself. He may yet do it. Any should issues?

He just needed a look, no need to waste more energy than that!
Smart cat, knows to surveil before committing to a leap.
