This gothic masterpiece took almost 600 years to build!

In 1344 Construction began under King John of Bohemia with architect Matthias of Arras leading the project.

In the 1350s Architect Peter Parler took over and developed the cathedral's Gothic design.

In 1419 construction was interrupted by the Hussite Wars.

In the 19th century Construction resumed in earnest

And then finally in 1929 the cathedral was officially completed and consecrated.

Trinity Church, a historic landmark in the middle of Wall Street

Right in the heart of Lower Manhattan, at the corner of Broadway and Wall Street, you’ll find Trinity Church. The parish was founded in 1697, and the current building the third church on this site was completed in 1846.

Designed by architect Richard Upjohn, it’s a beautiful example of Gothic Revival architecture. Its steeple was once the tallest structure in New York City. The churchyard is also the resting place of notable figures, including Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton.

It’s amazing to see this historic church surrounded by the skyscrapers of the Financial District. Have you visited?

Wells Cathedral.. help me please

Hello everyone

Me and my partner visited Wells Cathedral earlier, it's truly a beautiful building but I saw something there that I can't find an answer to. I've looked all over reddit Google even the Wells cathedral website to no avail.

Out in the Palm churchyard/courtyard surrounded by cloisters/small graveyard, was a big yew tree and just beneath were small pieces of metal sticking out of the grass all in a spiral/circular formation.

From a distance they looked like rusted meat cleaver blades without a handle.

I can't stop thinking about it.

My only guesses are an art installation or some sort of war memorial?

Please help me!

Mods, if this isn't allowed, please show me where i can post it.

Thank you
