In 2016, 16-year-old Mekayla Bali texted a friend, “Hey, I need help,” before quickly adding, “Never mind, I figured it out.” She spent the day asking strangers about a hotel room and bus ticket, then disappeared from a bus depot without ever boarding a bus.
After leaving the school, Mekayla went to the local bus station. The employee selling tickets recalled her asking when the next bus to Regina would leave and being told it would depart at about 5:00 p.m. She did not buy a ticket. Instead, she stopped at the small café inside the station and ordered poutine. She was seen leaving between 1:00 and 1:45 p.m. A customer reported that she left with a stocky man who had a tattoo of a cross with flames below his left elbow. There were no further sightings of her.
She was talking to a lot of boys and prob more than just the four the article mentions. She prob came across some sick son of a bitch who promised her things if she met up with him, prob pretended to be a younger guy and when she went to the meeting place or bus stop he recognized her and kidnapped her. The fact she was trying to get a hotel room is a big red flag to me, she was def meeting with someone. Real sad shit man, kidnappings and human trafficking Is a thing anywhere and every where. I feel bad for her family, they gotta live everyday not knowing with no closure. Yall can say what yall want but social media has done more harm than good, especially to kids and teenagers. Social media gave sick fucks easy access to so many young kids to be taken of advantage of. Really pisses me off how evil people living amongst us can be.
If I have kids, they wont be on social media too early and i’ll be keeping up with what they do. Will try my best to distract them with other better activities like sports or outdoor stuff.
