And two other women apprehended at LAX. One due to taiwan spying, another due to ICE. Seems like some political psyop shit.

Lots of science grad students poison each other. It's an incredibly stressful and competitive toxic environment and they're surrounded by poison all day.

Former University of South Florida chemistry PhD student Xuming Li was deported to China in December 2023 after being accused of injecting a toxic opioid mixture under his upstairs neighbor's door.

Key Details of the Case

• The Suspect: Xuming Li, 36, was a Chinese citizen studying chemistry on a student visa at USF. • The Incident: In June 2023, neighbor Umar Abdullah caught Li on a hidden surveillance camera crouching by the front door and using a syringe to inject a chemical mixture into the apartment. • The Motive: The attacks followed ongoing disputes over household noise. • The Substance: Lab testing and police reports revealed the liquid was a cocktail containing the potent opioid pain medications methadone and hydrocodone, which made the family (including a newborn baby) severely ill with nausea, dizziness, and strange chemical odors. • Charges and Expulsion: Li was arrested on multiple felony charges—including battery with a chemical agent and aggravated stalking—and pleaded not guilty. He was expelled from USF, which automatically canceled his student visa. • Deportation: ICE took custody of Li and deported him to China in December 2023 before his criminal trial concluded.

This isn't new and isn't exclusively reserved for China due to geopolitics

Most western news make it a point to single out Asians in the headline

That website is absolute cancer.  My phone is melting in my hands as we speak.  Here’s a copy-paste:

Microbiology grad student from China allegedly poisoned colleague then tried to flee US

Prosecutors claim that 32-year-old Aili Wang attempted to return to China after she was detained on Oct. 6 at Los Angeles International Airport

A Chinese graduate student studying microbiology in Wyoming has been detained on suspicion of poisoning the tea of a coworker who had pending patents and with whom she didn't get along. After being questioned by authorities, the student attempted to leave the country.

Prosecutors claim that 32-year-old Aili Wang attempted to return to China after she was detained on Oct. 6 at Los Angeles International Airport. Police said Wang was seen on surveillance footage searching the victim's desk while carrying computers, electronic storage devices, and documents comparable to those she had researched in China.

Wang was still detained in Los Angeles on Tuesday without being granted bail. When the alleged victim's wife and others tested the water from the coffee maker he used to prepare tea, they discovered that the water contained the chemical acrylamide, which she had purchased on eBay.

China has long been accused by U.S. officials of stealing intellectual property from American colleges.
