Groomed within the last 2 weeks. Ask vets offices nearby?

We brought him down to the petco below and they didn’t recognize him , but yeah he totally smells like he was bathed recently

Bring him to at least one vets office to scan for a chip.

If he's not chipped, and you can't find his owner, shoot me a PM and my kids will be thrilled lol

Not chipped, messaged.

Just FYI, local laws require you to turn them into the authorities if you can’t find the owner. Can’t just rehome them to people who aren’t the owners.

Animal control is coming to pick the dog up. Just getting this persons info in case the dog is up for adoption in their hands.

He’s basically saying CLT is too ghetto for people on Nextdoor to be in Charlotte shopping people who use it are in Pineville lol

There are active NextDoor sites for neighborhoods all over Charlotte.

Talk to the manager and security at Target. Someone may have left their doggo in the car with the window rolled down while they went shopping.

We did this as well, they made an announcement but no one came

Did you try At Home and the other stores too?

Weird.  Target has a sophisticated camera system.  They can easily rewind the footage in the parking lot and look for the dog.

They usually have to contact corporate to get authorized access to that.

Turning the pup over to Animal Control in Charlotte was a VERY bad idea. Probably put down within days if not same day.

It’s one of the first places a person will look for their lost pet. It will be on a 10 day stray hold and if no one claims the dog will be put up for adoption. Educate yourself

I know what I'm talking about.

Totally agreed. Should have found a local foster group...

It's the law

5

u/lkeels 3h ago

It's not an enforceable law. You do what you can to find the owner, and animal control should never be an option.

Absolutely not true. You can report that you have located and have the dog to them you do not have to turn it in

u/hydrissx 1h ago

You legally have to report it to Animal Control, yes. Which is what I said. You can't rehome it without satisfying stray hold, either yourself or by turning it in to the shelter.

I'd steal that dog and give him/her a new home. But seriously someone is missing their pet. Obviously taken care of.

Put up a picture. If you can't take care of them, then one of us can. That said.... Ask for like $50 or more with a promise to return it after. We don't deserve that dog. The owner does.
