What goes into bringing a book back from hiatus, and how do you decide when to announce its return?
Alright, we know you're talking about Loki! I'm excited for its return too, though we can't give you a date yet.
A hiatus is almost always because of resourcing and scheduling issues. Every Choices book involves producers, writers, artists, and QA and each department has to have the availability to do their part at a specific point in the process. Sometimes that availability doesn't align.
For Loki, in particular, it was a bit of an odd case where it was originally scheduled to be a 16 chapter book and then shortened due to staffing. But the team was as dissatisfied with that as all of you were and we squeezed in a few more chapters where we could find extra time in the existing schedule. We couldn't find time to wrap up all 12 chapters in one go, so instead of delaying 5-8 for when we had the rest done, we decided to release what was available and put it on another hiatus. Loki will be coming and hopefully soon!
What’s the most helpful way for players to share which stories they’d like to see more of?
Engaging with the story the day the chapter releases and coming back for each chapter release! When considering a book for a sequel or other stories of similar kind, we are reviewing data from the first day and first week of release. Revenue and retention are the two biggest factors. Are players purchasing premium choices and are they coming back for the whole story?
How do you decide whether to develop a pilot story into a full book? Are there any updates you can share on previous pilots?
When we’re considering whether to develop a pilot into a full book, we look at many of the same signals we use for our full-length stories: how many readers give it a try, how many return for the next chapter, and how they engage with premium choices. Together, those patterns help us understand which stories are connecting with readers and where there may be interest in more.
We don’t currently have plans to develop any of our previous pilots into full books. A couple came close to moving forward, and we may revisit them as we consider future story ideas, but that isn’t something we currently expect. We know some of you were hoping to see those stories continue, and we want to be upfront about where things stand.
How does the team decide what to include in a book’s content warnings, and is there room to make those more detailed?
The content warnings are primarily defined by the writer and producer as they know the content of the book the best. We have guidelines established by leadership that help dictate when a warning is needed and what is covered in the warning. However, we have been exploring more mature topics in our books recently and those guidelines need to grow with that. The team is actively discussing how best to handle content warnings going forward so that players are fully aware of the content they are about to read.
How do you approach representation when designing MCs and love interests, particularly skin tones, facial features, and cultural backgrounds?
We want more readers to see themselves reflected in Choices, and part of that work means looking beyond any single book. When designing new MCs and LIs, we review the skin tones and ethnicities represented throughout our catalog, including the character versions we’ve highlighted on past covers.
That gives us a starting point for prioritizing options that are underrepresented or haven’t appeared recently. Our writers and artists then work together to develop cultural backgrounds, facial features, and other details that help make each character their own person.
Could you share a little about the writing team behind recent Choices books and how they work together on a story?
We’d love to give you more opportunities to meet the people behind Choices and hear about how our stories come together. One idea we’ve been discussing is a live Q&A with one of our writers, where you could ask about their creative process and what goes into bringing a story to life.
It’s something we’ve wanted to do for a while, and we want to give it the time and preparation it deserves. That means talking with our writers about what they’d feel comfortable with and setting clear expectations for a thoughtful and respectful conversation with the community.
Our hope is to make it a fun, welcoming experience for everyone - one that leaves both readers and writers excited to do it again, and encourages more members of the team to join future conversations. We’re still exploring the details, but we’d be excited to make it happen!
I'm just like..do these writers know this city at all? I'm on book 3 and they mentioned Broad Street. Wow, one actual real street. But everything else they've shown, done, said, doesn't resemble the city I was born in and have lived in for many years very much. We had crime families drawing FBI attention years ago. Nowadays they apparently do white-collar stuff, they're not murdering people in the streets or having parleys or whatever. Why didn't they choose another city? Or does this just not happen anywhere ever anymore and Phila seemed as good a place as any, I guess? In that case, they could've at least made the artwork a bit more realistic 😑.
Doesn't have to be an mc, just any choices character who are you quite similar to?
There's elements of different mc's in me for sure, just like their attitude or humour, (sadly not their looks 😭😭 omfg i WISH!) but after REALLY giving it some thought i think the characters I'm probably the most like irl are the likes of WTD mc's big sister, or the ILB mc... basically, I seem to always take on a sort of big sister role, even if it's unintentional!
..I can be a bit protective, but also I want to help, especially if people are younger than me, i just think.. if I can help them or pass on some of my sage and infinite wisdom (lol 🤣 yeah right, good one) or give them advice i wish someone had given me when i was that age and genuinely struggling with something, then I want to help.
Because we all fkn need that sometimes 😩 and i didn't have that.
(Also, like WTD mc's sister, I will deadass look right through you with that same exact flat look if you're being a dumbass 🤣😒)
Thing is, I don't even realise I'm doing it half the time either, takng on the big sister, protective vibes, which is probably super annoying AF to the people around me lol but it is what it is!
But aside from her, I can absolutely see a couple of mc's and their personality in me too, esp any who are a bit snarky or jaded, or constantly assessing or quietly observing things, only comfortable around a couple of close people etc.
I am curious now though... who are you, really?
Are you the joker of the group? The gruff older but wiser one? The protector? Big sibling? Small sibling? Are you the bitchy sassy/mean one? the tension defuser? The one giving off serious do not trust vibes? Lol
Look, I know she's a younger sibling, but i am currently channelling my inner Marguerite Thorne here.. by which I mean I'm just being incurably nosy 😉
POV: Freeview announces Choices TV is dropping tomorrow. Imagine you turn on the channel and see the lineup for the next few months. Which shows would you like to see first? And who's your perfect cast? (I imagine they'd have a few actors they keep using over and over again because of the classic Choices face recycling haha)

How is anyone supposed to romance her after this ?? Well, I certainly chose Blaine...but still. I believed her to be a good friend.
She's just as stupid as Kiara from TRR since Kiara also supported MC's enemies mindlessly. And also like Drake's aunt who gave MC's information to the paps for mere amount of money.
She needed money ? She could've approached MC for some (bcuz they were close...and she's literally rich) and if she was embarrassed or didn't want to get obliged...well it would've been better than betraying her like that. Or she could've approached MC, and they could've organised a fundraiser or public-funding for Ayna's Dad.
AND even if she was too innocent to just want MC painted as a rich spoiled brat... didn't it occur to her that MC was such a nice kid ?? Maybe, if she just helped the attackers in beginning, it would've made sense, but even after knowing MC for months, she just kept on helping the attackers ??
This just shows that this idiot lacks rational judgement...and helping MC was not a favor at all cuz she was the reason why MC was unsafe in the first place!
I know a lot of books have the MC end up having kids, and some even give us the option to choose, but putting all that aside, which characters do you think would genuinely never want kids?

In this case, Chloes support of you directly allows you to leapfrog her in the rankings lol, I know she wants her friend Poppy back but I imagine she'd be kinda miffed to find this out!
Sorry for putting the last pic twice but the formatting app i used did a much worse job with 5 pics, this worked a lot better lol - but I like how in this case Zoey literally crowns you as Queen B!
I'm out of diamonds and want to be able to stock up on them while actually enjoying the story I'm using to mine diamonds. I'm just not sure if that's possible? I'm completely free to play, unfortunately, so I can't pay to get more or even VIP to increase my earning rate.
Are there any stories that are enjoyable without taking any diamond choices so I can enjoy them while saving up for the stories I want them for?
And I loved it! Initially I didn't want to play it because I thought it's smut and BDSM stuff which I don't like. But when I played it after some recommendations I loved it!❤️ It didn't have those stuffs, at least not much. I really liked the story. I can't understand MC sometimes but she's fine. I hope she gets more senses in book 2😅 Keiran was rude Initially but later on he was nice.
I'm excited to play book 2 and hope it's as good, or even better. I like other characters. I hope MC revisits her village and she gets some cool backstory with some twist. Longclaw and Sir Montgomery are good too. For Radiance.. I never trusted him. And thank god there were many good fae in Sun Court.
What are your opinions on this book? And please no spoilers of book 2😅
