Surprised Stirtz didn't pull up from the logo honestly. Probably took a lot of coaching in the huddle to tell him to pass rhe ball.

They certainly tried didn't they? The fix was definitely in. It was so unfortunately obvious they were doing everything to give that game to Florida.
11
u/fridder Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 23 '26
SEC bias felt real at times.
9
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
It's College basketball, I've been watching for decades, there are definitely games that seem unfair but are just some unfortunate calls. Then there are games where the calls are so blatantly obvious that there's almost no other explanation than trying to influence an outcome.

Could not agree more. Give them an easy path to make more money or whatever
4
u/gluesniffercharlie Mar 23 '26
Exactly what it is. This is a business. Iowa doesmt have the base like FL. As a life long Iowa fan. Feels so fucking good to stick it up their ass. Iowa and Iowa State in the 16. Hot fucking damn

Also that was ridiculous that the officials stopped the game and gave Florida a free timeout. Didn't end up mattering but yikes.
7
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
That was complete garbage. Just a little too convenient. I might buy it if they hadn't seemed biased the whole game.
5
u/HelpaBroOut036 Wisconsin Badgers • Florida Gators Mar 23 '26
Iowa called timeout to get their defender back in anyways. Also, that's super common at the end of games like this to make sure the clock is right. It's not "ridiculous," it's just what the officials are trained to do in close games.
3
u/sphynxzyz Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 23 '26
Exactly especially in this caliber of game and how close it was. It was .6 off which can matter.

Would you rather play Florida than Iowa?
0
u/Jarlwald5 Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 23 '26
Yes. Florida is a much harder matchup for us, but I can stomach the thought of losing in the Sweet 16 to them.
1
u/FeelingSad6654 Mar 23 '26
Lol, you are a true Husker fan. Beaten down by past expectations and disappointment. I feel you, but I am estatic we’re playing Iowa instead of Florida. Was at the rail yard when we beat Vandy and it was absolutely insane. Hoping to ride that high for as long as possible.

3
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
It's what it's all about. So many games and even years without success but the few times in our lives that our team does something like this, there is just nothing like it.
1
u/Mission_Historical Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 23 '26
25 years old, been waiting my entire life for this. This is what makes sports magical.
2
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
Honestly you are pretty lucky. A lot of people don't have success with their teams for much longer. To have success with your team at only 25 years old is awesome
1
u/Mission_Historical Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 23 '26
And we’re only in year one with McCollum. We’re not supposed to be good at basketball!!!
2
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
Iowa is always good enough to be anyone at any given night. I'm a Michigan fan and they have ruined our season a handful of times lol
1
u/Mission_Historical Iowa Hawkeyes Mar 23 '26
Good enough to ruin a season or two for others, but never good enough to put together a magical season of our own. That’s the difference between a decent program and a good program, and it finally feels like we’re edging in that direction. Maybe it’s a flash in the pan, but if it is, I’m going to enjoy every second.

I picked Iowa to win. They are just pests that ruin seasons but also the B1G is better than the rest if the country believes. They are finding out. 6 teams in the sweet 16
1
u/CharlestonChewbacca Mar 23 '26
I had faith. I've got them winning one more.

2
u/eyeaminevitable Florida Gators Mar 23 '26
Lol let’s have them win their first bball natty in like 25 years before we start making these claims. And three years running in football is a nice streak but they need the next 10 or so in a row to come anywhere close to the SEC this century
6
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
Of course. This is something sparty and Michigan can agree on
2
u/ObeliskSlayer Wisconsin Badgers Mar 23 '26
At this point, no debate. If UCLA handles business, all but WI and OH made it past first weekend.
2
u/East_Moose_683 Michigan Wolverines Mar 23 '26
I still cannot believe Wisconsin fell apart. They have played so well the last half of the season. I was hoping so badly to see them give Arizona a run
2

Wisconsin had the opportunity of a lifetime to be a dark horse and they decided to lay an egg. Smh.

"one of us will still be dancing"..? You'd be happy if your team lost as long as ISU loses too? Weird but ok.
1

Nope, I’m already happy! But if Iowa loses it would be some small consolation when ISU loses as well.

1
u/Bill3ffinMurray Nebraska Cornhuskers Mar 23 '26
Yeah, I don’t think I am either.
I’d rather just acknowledge how cool it is that Nebraska has made its first sweet 16 ever and Iowa its first sweet 16 since 1999. One of us is going to the Elite 8.
And I think that’s pretty cool. I hope it’s Nebraska though.
2
