Was he playing in the main rotation or were his 18 more in garbage time?

He started actually. He played almost the entire game. He was great vs Furman too.

I think he started. That said, he started a strange, surprising lineup with a lot of first year guys. His points were throughout the game and he looked great. I'm sure he'll be a 20 minute off the bench guy to start the year. Clean and quick release and looked fearless shooting it. Overall, just trying not to get too excited about anything from an exhibition game.

Oats is the best coach in the SEC.

Career it’s Cal and not close. Now, he’s probably 3/4. Oats and golden are a tier above and somewhere around Barnes.

We look good but we are missing a true PG. Allen doesn't look like a true 1 for me. Holloway and Diaz will open this offense up way more.
Cloer is gonna be a problem.

Allen was never going to be a true one. Even playing him at point confuses me a little bit

It's what he came back for. He - right now - is our only reliable ball handler. He has a ton of hop and can generate a blow by, but he's not the best at facilitating or breaking down the defense consistently.

I'm torn on the importance of exhibitions. On the one hand, it's the first time the teams ever take the court. On the other, both these teams seem like they are trying really hard to win.

The fact they're conferences opponents probably explains the latter

We’ve looked really good at times and really bad at times. I am glad we are playing this game though, it’s really showing who our best and definitely worst players are.

Yeah these games are way more beneficial than people will imagine. That whole game felt like a midweek conference game in the middle of February. Great to be having it this early.

OM didn't have two big men and got abused on the boards. Bama didn't have either PG and had a gluttony of TOs. Glad to get the W and see some of the fresh faces.

I wish Aaron Anderson wasn't injured. Really excited about his play at guard.

Unfortunately, I'm already seeing in Davis-Fleming what made me frustrated when his brother played for us. Not fleet of foot at all. Yes I know it's stupid to be this reactionary this early in an exhibition game.

Who was his brother?

u/chrispgriffin Alabama Crimson Tide 2d ago
Javian. Played for us for a couple season around 2019 before transferring to Miss St. then UAB.

Any idea why we're playing 2 conference opponents as exhibitions?

Agreed, anything less than 14 & 10 is a huge disappointment for him.

Intra conference exhibitions feel wrong
