THIS guy is going to win National Player of the Year this season, a foregone conclusion
Yet many college basketball fans probably still haven't heard of him, yet. For a couple of reasons, until recently, he wasn't even on the radar of major high school and college insiders, due to him being a SERIOUS late bloomer, ranked in the middle of the pack of the recruiting rankings at best, but, all that changed when he tried out for this summer's USA U17 World Cup squad, a team composed of all the very best players in next year's class, not only did he make the team, but along side the best of the best, he was, by far, the best player on the team, he ended up proving to be one of the most dominating players on any high school to college relevant Team USA squad in decades.
He reclassified up one year to the 2026 class, and Duke luckily snatched him up.
He's Joaquim Boumtje-Boumtje, 7 ft 2 inch starting center for title contender Duke, and yes, they are going to be a title contender this season mainly because of him.
Get your popcorn ready, because players like this don't grace the college ranks with their presence very often.

Yep, this hype ain’t half what it was for Zion. But sometimes a great Freshman does lead a team to a title. For example, Carmelo Anthony, for those old enough to remember.

This is exactly the kind of content this sub wants to see.
As a JBB fan, I don't think he will win it. A 3rd Team All-American placement would be an amazing accomplishment. John Blackwell will most likely be the leading scorer for Duke this year. Pat Ngongba will, if healthy, lead in rebounding. I find it hard to see JBB leading the team in any statistical category the way Flagg and Boozer did.
Now 2027-28? Yeah, I think JBB has a good shot.

God I hate when folks post shit like this on other teams, it’s so much worse when it’s a Duke fan.

He’s annoying but he’s correct.
JBB is a monster and could easily win B2B NPOTY. He’s that good.
If you’ve watched team USA U18 stuff in recent years he’s jumped off the screen as one of the best to come through that pipeline

I was going to complain about not even telling us his name until the second paragraph, but then I realized that first block of text is just one neverending sentence. Duke english department needs to step it up.
