Our 5 year olds sign offering to trade Wedgie his favorite kids book for a puck worked! He even got a fist bump through the glass after warmups were over and he was headed back in
He absolutely adores Wedgie and is the reason he tried goalie this season. For anyone curious, it was the kids book called “Knight Owl” and it’s adorable and now I need to order him a replacement copy lol
I didn't think we looked materially different but the Hughes goal was great and Nate 1T was his usual magicians work.
I don't think ultimately if/when our PP starts working it's going to look that different, just more goals are going to go in because the looks are incrementally better
The last two games against the Penguins went 7-2 and 6-2.
When we were down 2-0, I thought it could still follow the pattern. Same through the Avs' first two goals.
Though I would never say it, I thought, 'Whoever scores the next goal is going to win.'
It's fun when the Universe continues a random human pattern.

I actually found his comments so interesting and entertaining. Particularly him recognizing that he knows what it feels like to have everyone looking for you and not putting it in
One of my favorite Nate moments ever is when he and LOC both had 2 in a game and he passed it to LOC on the empty net; Nate was never going to take the hatty in that situation
This was the moment I understood who Nate really is. He had a clear shot to the net, so much so that I remember him passing it and basically turning and skating off cause he knew it was going in. He gave up a hatty so that his teammate could get his first.
Mack may hate interviews and media, and a lot of other things, but he loves his teammates.
This game started sad, but that turned around quick thankfully. PP looked horrendous on that first attempt, couldn’t get in the zone. Thankfully, they solved that later and scored on a PP! Almost two with that Hughes goal, and congrats to TJ on his first. Here’s to many more.
Lehky doing what he does best again and finding those hard working goals (pay this man. Pay him immediately), Brindley still looking dangerous at all times and some questionable calls from the refs, 5 unanswered goals made for a great win.
I was at work until like 5 minutes ago so when I checked the score and saw it was 2-0 I tried to put the game out of my mind and forget about it. Glad I was able to be pleasantly surprised when I remembered it was on.
Love that Burnsie and Landy have taken Hughes under their wings 🥰. I love this team so much!!! Superstars, leaders, depth… and as of the last couple seasons, a lot more fun and joy… we have it all!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yuuuuuup. I’m lucky in my hockey fandom. NFL isn’t going TOO bad this season (Green Bay). NCAA is like a bipolar squirrel who does crack on the uppy days and drinks heavily on the downies (Nebraska)
I flipped on espn+ about 1 minute before they scored the first goal. Watched another minute to see us go down 2-0 and left. Nice to see they dominated the whole time I wasn’t tuned in.
Nah. The team doesn’t trust him enough. They refuse to use him in the bumper spot, and he’s been absolutely awful getting open in the high danger ice. He’s also not a natural shooter, his game is playmaking. Why he’s in the shooting spot, I’ll never know.
It’s not relying on scouting reports, that’s his player archetype for years and what he was good at in camp and preseason. Plus ya know, all these 7 games so far. He’s failed the audition for this role, but there are many others available. Right now he’s been entirely miscast.
I think we're talking past each other a bit. I'm merely pointing out that 7-8 games is a short period and I suspect Bednar just wants to see him out there for the short term. All indications are he's more of a playmaker but its still worth giving him a look to help develop him as a player if nothing else.
Far be it from me to compliment another team kind of enthusiastically…but the Pens have a really cool-looking PK. I really like their aggressive style where they get in close and hound the PP unit. They caused a lot of turnovers each power play and looked crazy strong the whole time. It didn’t amount to SHGs this game (thank god), but it may have contributed to stymying our PP.
I think our PK is more than good enough—don’t get me wrong. And I don’t know if the Pens’ style would work for us. But it was cool to watch.
Blackwood was insane. Lehky with two goal and we finally got a PP goal but it still needs improvement. Those first two goals weren’t great. Hughes’s first NHL goal!
