Discussion Valkyrie Sweep

I may not be the best and/or the most knowledgeable player around but don’t these Valkyrie nerfs completely invalidate Spear Sweep?

It now does 18 dmg, resets opponent stamina and is GB vulnerable on whiff.

Shield Tackle mix does 18 dmg, no stam reset and gives you multiple options to deal with dodges, dodge attacks etc.

What value is there to using sweep at all beyond potentially ledging someone?

If you don't use the sweep, you won't bait anyone into dodging and getting hit by the undodgeable.

Well put. It's like asking why you would ever do the Gryphon finisher lights instead of kick.

Soft feint to Tackle would accomplish the same thing though no? Without being unsafe.

Nope, because that's a lot slower, you'd only dodge then after the heavy has been thrown. At which point you might be able to dodge into it to block it, and avoid a buffered tackle.

Sweep should still be a useful move.

You wouldn’t dodge shield tackle until you see the heavy/stance so the mix stays the same (sweep should be 400-433ms though).

Damage is pretty in line with most bash/blue mixes but should probably only be punishable by a da imo

No, you still want to use it in the 1v1 since your UD heavy doesn't have a use there without it. But the damage nerf was over the line on it. The recovery change to make it Gbable was the correct and only nerf it needed. Honestly i feel like the devs are continuing to mishandle Valk.

her top light finisher could've been made UD. Making her heavy finishers be UD when they cleave so well was a dumb change that necessitated a damage nerf because of it. I get why they don't like making UD lights often but I don't care.

You're now overcorrecting on a character who has a history of being over corrected simply to not scare bad players too much. It's just dumb.

Can you name another hero with a orange blue like valks 50/50 that did even close to the same amount? It was way too much damage

Welp glad I got some time out of her being fun. Back to the bench with valk

I’ve long since had 100 on Valk so I don’t play her nearly as much anymore but it was fun having her be strong for a few weeks.

Sweep was never really meant to be used all the time, it's just something to catch the enemy off guard, if you do it rarely enough you can still catch someone with it, free 18 damage, then if you go for a heavy and cancel into gb there's a chance you get a gb off too if they try to dodge, but I get what you're saying, it's just a bit more risky to use now imo

It just seems to me that you can accomplish the same pressure as sweep with Shield Tackle and not risk the 800ms recovery for the same damage. At least Stance allows you to react to multiple options where you just lose on sweep if they dodge. Doesn’t seem well thought out.

I'd have to try it myself, I do feel like they nerfed the damage a tad too much, maybe going down to 20 would have been sufficient but I do think she needed some kind of nerf, I do however think it's still a viable move, at least imo.

I’ll have to play around with it and see how it feels. Not the first time it’s been GB vuln so I’ll get over it.

Bash n blue mixup, it is still strong in 1v1 scenerio. They should did it to make it less frustration in 4v4.

I wish sweep would wall splat. Would make it a better MU imo
