I feel like there shouldn’t be Guinness world records for just buying things.

will it make you feel better if you found out that you actually have to call them out yourself to get them to certify it and you pay for their travel and all admin costs, which will cost you 5-10k?

I was thinking there's gotta be some weird connection or financial element to this because 5000 seems unremarkable, like I am sure there are people with star wars of coca cola memorabilia that has more than 5000, so why is harry potter remarkable?

Her having to shell out money to get a "biggest consoomer" award just makes her the final boss

18

u/StinkyWetSalamander 2d ago

But there is a Guinness world record for biggest Star Wars collection. There are world records for lots of biggest collections. This is nothing new.

u/Rhodin265 3d ago

It’ll be up to at least 5002 when she displays the Guinness World Record book and certificate.  Maybe more than that if she gets a stand, frame, and bookmark.

but that's another world record! That'll make it at least 5003, which makes it yet another world record! That'll make it at least 5004, which makes it yet another world record! That'll make it at least 5005, which makes it ye-- yeah I see what's happening here

Lol wow what a joke of an organization

14

u/Spugheddy 2d ago

Honestly its brilliant. Make people pay you money to be in your book that you sell for money...

u/ardoin 2d ago

Beer company btw

u/spicybright 3d ago

Maybe if it was like classic cars you restored, or a stamp collection, but not just shit you buy at a store like this

Guinness is just running out of ideas, all the good records were done decades ago lol

27

u/AppUnwrapper1 3d ago

Thing is, even a stamp or coin collection could be bought from others and not necessarily something you worked on for decades. What’s stopping someone (very stupid and very rich) from buying her whole collection from her and then adding one more item to it to beat her record?

9

u/spicybright 3d ago

Fair point. Even my classic car example someone could just buy/inherit the collection and then they hold the record, which is kind of dumb.

u/thisnextchapter 3d ago

I liked the one for cat with the loudest purr that was done a few years back.

But I agree. I remember the annual books used to be a big deal in the 90s into the early 00s

2

u/Hotelcleanaselvenass 3d ago

Those are the exact same tier, buying useless shit. If you hate one hate them all

6

u/ashbelero 3d ago

Funny enough, you usually have to buy the Guinness world record.

2

u/Hyro0o0 3d ago

There used to be world records for things that could actually harm or kill you (like not sleeping or eating). Let's let the people have their buying stuff records.

Guiness world records shouldn't be a thing anyway. They are just making dumbass people famous and giving achievements for bullshit.

u/MidBoss11 3d ago

can you believe she's only 31

46

u/Sindica69 3d ago

I do not in fact believe that, what

46

u/cuddly_degenerate 3d ago

The fuck? Looks like a rough 50.

11

u/EndGamer93 3d ago

All jokes aside, she actually looks 50+.

25

u/Rebelpunk13 3d ago

Weight puts years on people. She should be in the Guinness World Record for being the first person to age from 31 to 55 in a single year

14

u/ashbelero 3d ago

Incorrect, I’m chubby and in my 30s and people regularly think I’m in my early 20s. My friend is way bigger than me and they got turned down at the club by someone who thought they were 18. Being fat does not age you.

21

u/aboxofkittens 2d ago

Yeah for this person specifically I think it’s mostly the haircut. It’s styled as if she is 31 years old but the year is 1986

4

u/Jelousubmarine 2d ago

If anything, one usually has less wrinkles if one is prone to getting weight in the face.

Then when folks lose weight, they tend to look older rapidly partially due to that.

11

u/SuspiciousToast27 2d ago

Being fat literally forces your organs to work harder and increases biological age.

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Log6710 1d ago

Its a bell curve. Super skinny people in middle adult hood tend to look older, then healthy/chubby people look younger, then really overweight people look older again till you get to the ageless amorphous blob of fat stage

0

u/nanapancakethusiast 21h ago

Eh. People lie to people’s faces all the time.

1

u/ashbelero 21h ago

… is that about the club thing? I mean, they went home together after my friend pulled out their ID.

-11

u/PantheraLutra 2d ago

Yea ppl are just fatphobic, it’s the last “acceptable” ism/obic . Also, fat makes you look younger the older you get due to collagen and elastin decreasing, and if you’re thin you get wrinkly and loose.

12

u/East-Ice-3199 2d ago

Holy mother of cope. Pretending your disorder is actually healthy doesn’t make you look cool, no matter how much you want it to.

6

u/ChameleonPsychonaut 2d ago

It's also an insult to people who are actually marginalized. You can choose to make lifestyle changes to lose weight. It might be tough and take some willpower, but your body can't defy the laws of physics.

Someone who is born as a racial minority, or with a physical or intellectual disability, can't just work hard and suddenly not be marginalized anymore. I'm not suggesting anyone should be bullied or disrespected for their weight, but the whole concept of "fatphobia" is a joke. Can you imagine if we called people "smokephobic" for voicing opinions against cigarette smokers, and acted like it was threatening a protected status?

2

u/PantheraLutra 2d ago

I am also a minority with disabilities. And it’s still used to discriminate against people 🤷‍♀️ just because you’re marginalized as well doesn’t diminish the experience of others or think they should also be subject to hate? ED is a mental issue leading to other mental issues for many. Merely saying it’s a last stand of acceptable hate- there are subreddits for it even 🤷‍♀️

2

u/PantheraLutra 2d ago edited 2d ago

I’m not fat? But it is something used to discriminate against others - and ignoring that is a bit willfully blind. I mean you’re doing it right now - didn’t say it was cool- said it is a criteria for discrimination

This reminds me of that one girl who was featured in the 2016 edition of the Guinness world records book for having the most moshi monsters merch in the world.
Which is way funnier than Harry Potter memorabilia because at least Harry Potter is still relevant, meanwhile I bet you guys think I just made up moshi monsters

"No no, I know Rowling is a bad person. But let me separate the art from the artist!"

"But Rowling said every dol-"

"I said I'm separating the art from the artist!!!!

9

u/Old-Natural-852 2d ago

"But guys, every coporation is bad!  Every artist besides Bob Ross and Dolly Parton ate problematic!  No ethical consumption under capitalism!  Now let me buy another $1,000 in Harry Potter merch."

3

u/NotQuiteAthenian 2d ago

I also ate problematic :(

4

u/Big-rat-in-the-sewer 2d ago

"YOU DON'T GET IT!!!! IT'S MY CHILDHOOD SO I HAVE TO FUNNEL MONEY INTO ROWLING'S POCKETS FOR HER TO DO HORRIBLE SHIT!!!!"

1

u/disneylovesme 20h ago

Ironically bob Ross copyright holders are bad people disgracing his legacy.

18

u/Novel_Ad_7318 3d ago

You cannot seperate art from the artist if the artist makes bank from you doing so. They are LITERALLY connected.

11

u/shoe_salad_eater 2d ago

how much transphobic rhetoric do you think this has funded

4

u/coziest_robot 3d ago

She will personally burst into flames if she sees a trans woman in person.
