Builds Wife’s PC rebuild complete

Post image

*some parts were provided by Corsair

Started moving my wife’s PC to a new case a few months ago. She inherited some of my old build with a super-tower (Cooler Master C700p) and she just really wanted something smaller. Got a Frame 4000d, a 360mm Titan AIO, and 6x LX fans. I posted this build with a temporary PSU a couple months back before really digging into the cable management: just received my Corsair Shift PSU and finished up the build. I was actually a little surprised that the shift PSU didn’t necessarily make the cable management all the much better automatically (I suck at cable management to begin with), BUT, I will say that having the plugs facing the back panel of the case makes building a LOT easier. While it didn’t really make straightening up the back cables easier, it definitely eliminated the rats nest in the bottom of the case and allowed me to hide the couple of controllers (lian li strimmer + corsair lighting node) much easier and more cleanly. The turn (shift 😛) in the PSU ports is really a genius idea, and as long as my future cases are compatible I’ll likely be buying Shift-style PSUs exclusively (well, once Seasonic + Corsair have that 12vhpwr safety which is supposedly coming out next year). Unfortunately my main PC’s case mounts the PSU sideways so the PSU fan sucks air from the back panel instead of the bottom, as such one of the mounting plates would block where the Shift PSU has its ports - just something to watch out for.

PS: I didn’t like how the GPU Strimmer cable looked when actually plugged into the video card, so I decided to mount it in the PSU shroud… Corsair, you should really consider releasing a light-up one 😉
