Also lovely if you're the type that likes to sit and read a bit before sleeping

Written sarcasm should always use /s, honestly. You really can't tell just by reading because some folks genuinely are idiots.

Looks like tram seat fabric. Or 90% of cheap hotels in Australia lol

Yep rural Australia š¤£

Iām honestly impressed that the style of motel fabric in Australia is that specific to a place/era.
Itās like that era in 1990s USA when Laura Ashley designs barfed florals all over every surface that couldnāt manage to run away.

Now Iām reading the title with an Australian accent, and itās 3000 times better.

Looks very similar to the Country roads motel in Warracknabeal. Spent many nights there.

fascinating. Stayed at a motel in rural Australia once and i'm pretty sure they had the same bedding.
Was an odd motel as well, strange room layouts
I think it was somewhere in the region around Dubbo.

Haha, I was thinking Iāve stayed here before! but it could be anywhere from Albury to Bundaberg, Dubbo or Kempsey.

Longest nightās sleep ever,
Wake up, get a concussion, fall back to sleep, wake up, get a concussion ā¦
Some say heās still sleeping to this day.

At what point did you consider pulling the bed so that wouldn't happen again?

Iād be reversing the setup and putting my feet by the headboard.

u/Fancy-Trousers 9d ago
Or scooting the bedframe a bit away from the wall. Still crappy design, but manageable during OP's temporary stay.

u/gumbo_chops 9d ago
I'd be asking for a different room that wasn't a straight-up prision cell with ugly brick walls on top of this design travesty.

im the kind of sleeper no matter if i move the pillow down 2' or even sleep sideways or on the floor, my head will still wind up under that thing come morning

u/correcthorsestapler 9d ago
Knowing me, Iād also smack my head on the brick wall while moving in my sleep.

You gotta wonder what was wrong with the Headwacker 1000 and 2000 that they felt they needed to keep iterating. Not enough heads getting wacked I guess.

This is honestly one of the worst offenders Iāve seen on here. In a hotel of all places - where arguably its sole function is to provide a place to sleep

My bed has no backing and it's not against a wall. The pillow slides off the back constantly, sometimes in the middle of me trying to sleep. I'd 100% prefer this.

Prime example of why I often bring my own pillowcase with me travelingā¦.. pillow right on top of that nasty-ass comforter that never gets washed (hotels usually donāt wash them like ever). So gross haha.

This is a common mistake. The model 3000 does have a lot of similar features but you can see the outlet in the middle. Those are only present on the 4000.b model.
Itās impressively effective at ensuring zero return guests

I'd almost definitely sleep the other way than risk a wakeup involving that edge.

I remember this one time when I went to this girlās apartment and she had one of these but more protruded. While doing the deed I literally hit my head twice on it. Once when I went down to give her a kiss, and then when I raised my head after.
ā¦yeah the mood got ruined cause of that.

Stayed in a hotel decades ago with work, my colleague came down to breakfast one day with a big bruise on the side of his head and his cheek was cut. He said he'd hit his head the previous day while washing his hair in the shower and that morning had cut himself on the shower head holder as he said it was too low and in completely the wrong place. The hotel manager was pissing himself laughing as he told him the shower head was magnetic so it could be easily moved/adjusted to any position ... My colleague later joined the intelligence services ...
