Award Travel 8.28% return from Axis Atlas!

Post image

Booked 2 return tickets from Mumbai to Bangalore using Air India points.

The math:

8,000 Atlas Miles → 16,000 Air India points
Taxes: ₹4,000
Same Air India flights: ₹37,108
Net value: ₹33,108
Value per Atlas Mile: ₹4.14

Atlas gives 2 miles per ₹100 spent.
So ₹100 spend → 2 miles → ₹8.28 travel value

That’s an 8.28% effective return.

There was another carrier with similar timings for ₹26,330, so using that as the conservative benchmark:

₹26,330 − ₹4,000 = ₹22,330
₹22,330 ÷ 8,000 = ₹2.79/mile

That still gives 5.58% return.

So depending on how you value the redemption, I’m getting 5.6–8.3% back on regular Atlas spending.

Is this a good Atlas redemption, or am I valuing the points incorrectly?

Atlas gives 5 miles on travel spends. This is where its true value comes from

Those are air india returns not axis.

If air india removes this option, would you consider the value zero?

Returns would be surely less but for now Axis Atlas doesnt look that bad.

congrats. 8.28 is still a mid level return from axis atlas. international routes carry higher return rates for eg delhi to manilla flight is usually 35k and with points its 12k + 2k inr which comes around 11%

BLR to Mumbai costs ~10k round trip for economy in December! Sorry, but you’ve wasted your points

Its ₹24,000 for 2 pax, assuming we choose Spicejet which is the least preferred airline. Also timing matters. Biggest advantage of redeeming points is flexibility of timing.

Next best assuming we dont opt for SpiceJet. ₹29,600.

OP has chose this flight. 16,000 points for ₹36,000 flights. I think its a great redemption. Biggest advantage is convenience. Great one OP.
