Episode Discussion Did anybody else stop listening to this pod or get turned off by it after the Melissa Casias episode ?
First off, trying to frame the husband and father as a suspect with zero actual evidence backing it up felt super irresponsible and gross. For a show that tries to position itself as an advocate for families, pushing wild, gossipy theories onto a grieving spouse just to create drama is a terrible look.
On top of that, the constant "Crime Junkie Exclusive" ego trips are getting unbearable. Ashley loves acting like they are out here cracking cases that actual detectives and local police somehow missed. It comes off less like trying to help and way more like fishing for a gold star to boost her own brand.
The final straw for me was when they started leaning into this bizarre conspiracy theory about disappearing scientists and actually implied she didn't want to say too much because she "didn't know who was watching" or didn't want a target on her back. Acting like shadowy global entities are tracking a podcast feed is just comically vain and turns a real tragedy into a Hollywood spy thriller starring herself.
