I personally feel congress leaders get their share from all bjp scams. Hence, they just keep up this facade of an opposition. Like so many scams came out and the public made more noise than the opposition.

Majority of the population is ignorant. If you just stand any public place and you will observe some people polluting, some people ensuring that others should also listen what they like, rickshawallas blasting music, constant horn in traffic, no regard for lane discipline, then you might see people destroying public property be it a bus, train, park.
Some tax-paying individuals who have a bit of sense who might have seen a bit of the world, see this on a daily basis helplessly. Govt. has no regard for tax money, govt can do corruption but atleast can provide basic necessities, good roads are not far reaching expectation, cleaning of gutters can be handled in a btter way, etc. When we imagine l a general Indian population to any of the western countries’, they seem so civilised. A respect for another human. Here, “Every Indian is BETTER and ABOVE than the other.”
15
u/yatihumai Oct 25 '25
who will make these people understand? If not government, not media, not any system, then are we doomed?

How do you suppose the literacy rate of India went up ? Girls started studying in schools ? Child marriage reduced across country ?
People and the Government both are extremely impatient and keep jumping from one issue to next, one policy to next just to stay in limelight.
Constant and repeated media messages have great power of imprinting on the minds of people. Look at Jaago Grahak Jaago ads which were quite common during our childhood. Or the “Ring a bell, stop domestic violence” ads. Or NECC “Sunday ho ya Monday, roz khao Ande” to promote protein intake of Population. Same with “Beti bachao, beti Padhao”.
The current ruling party has been doing the same relentless messaging but just to safeguard their own seat instead. Every kid knows “Abki Baar Modi Sarkar”, or how bad Muslims are… but are they focusing enough on the actual social issues ?

That's a law enforcement issue. People also don't want to pay taxes. Somehow government gets them. People don't want to make driving license. Somehow government makes them do that.
2
Oct 25 '25
1000% correct. These measures are to curb the pollution. Seems uncivilized people need this kind of special attention too...public ko bahane chahiye bas complaints ke liye, pehle karo, samjho aur jano...inhe karna ata hai to bas complaints ....
2
Oct 25 '25
Yes but how do I blame modi then? Or infact any party in power? Ffs people need to take care of themselves on their own. AAP tried to ban crackers, didn't do shit. Bjp didn't ban crackers, also didn't do shit. Pollution levels were similar in both cases. Maybe bjp will ban crackers next year, but that won't do anything aswell.
Need some strict laws over this in the critical areas of country, the highly populated areas. People might cry over hypocrisy and biasness, but what needs to be done has to be done. Also, make the same for every religion, not just hindus. And please ffs monitor the field burnings of farmers near Delhi. You can blame diwali for pollution for max 1 week, but when the same thing is all over the year who do you blame then?

No. These are mostly religious stuff that men of house usually takes with them to perform "visarjan" on the way to their offices. They used to throw it from the bridge and mind their way. But since there are tall barricades, they just dump it there since they're always in some hurry.

The key thing missing here is Enforcement. Laws are there but no one enforces them. People can get away so they do. It was difficult for AAP as the CM doesn't have any power over the police. But now they do. Have you ever heard anyone got fined for littering? Rules need to be enforced first then they become culture.
And the lack of civic sense comes from the lax attitude shown by the municipality and government. If they were to do their jobs effectively for 6 months more than half of these issues will go away.

What you're describing is a long term goal. The best scenario. What I'm suggesting is immediate and actionable work that we can do. We as a society have already developed bad habits and we are very easily passing them down to the next generation. We shouldn't be waiting around for people to develop some sense.
There are places where people are so good that no one steals and then there are places where security and policing is so good that no one can steal.

Here is what i suggest: Complete monitoring of MCD sanitation works so we can ensure all the SOPs are being followed- for example according to the guidelines door to door collection is supposed to happen daily but we all know that for the majority of the city it happens once or twice a week. Secondly street cleaning of Inhabited streets and roads is also supposed to happen daily but it only happens 2-3 a month.
If only MCD can do these few things for a continuous period(4-6months) you'll see a drastic change in the city.

first they said--bjp removed sensors
Nobody said that ever.
second they said--bjp replaced them in to forest prone
BJP government added "new" sensors in JNU, IGNOU, Delhi Cantt, NSUT-West, and the Commonwealth Games Sports Complex. 2 of these 6 (JNU and IGNOU straight up lie in the designated forest area of South-Central ridge. The rest are also in low-population areas with dense vegetation.
The old ones are there functioning as they were.
which of them is true?

Dude the exact thing used to be done by the AAP govt. Nothing new. What's worse is that the AAP govt. Used the DJB fresh water supply to spray on the foaming chemicals in the Yamuna rivers and used to run speedboats to disperse the froth. Nothing new BJP is doing and Nothing great that AAP used to the do. People commenting Modi this, Modi that... This is politics. It's all gadbage. We just have to chose the better garbage to live with

Are you sure they have finished spraying everywhere and so will not spray in remaining areas that don’t have sensors? Also this is something you actually do N.A. to help with extreme pollution so what’s the problem with this if it’s not going to help a bit?

Well I was in Delhi from 2017 to 23, this was always the case. I witnessed these vehicles in saket and pushp vihar ever since 2017. So nothing new in it. Why are we creating fuss over it, rather we should address whether Yamuna got any better or not, like using silicon dioxide anti foam solution which Pravesh verma himself was against when he was in opposition? Yamuna was one of the major issues in BJP's manifesto so letting it go away would be our biggest mistake.
