Ask CTI If You’re So Confident About the Case Against Umar and Sharjeel, Why Are You Afraid of Letting the Trial Reveal the Full Story?

Post image

This question is to those BJP zombies in this subreddit, how do you guys who oppose bail or even a proper trial for Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam actually expect the full truth to come out? Look at the Kasab trial. We got so much detail because everything was put before the court and tested, from his training in Pakistan and the handlers directing the attackers, to the GPS route, satellite phone, weapons, intercepted calls and how the whole 26/11 operation was planned and coordinated.

And honestly, wouldn’t it be incredibly brain dead to believe that the Delhi riots were somehow organised by just two people, Umar and Sharjeel, and that the answer is simply to keep those two in jail forever? Don’t you want the trial to actually establish who did what, what evidence exists, who else was involved and whether the prosecution’s allegations hold up?

Or is the real issue that you don’t want the trial to happen because you don’t want any other names or details to come out? If the evidence is rock solid, why be scared of putting everything on the table and letting the court test it?

Lets break it down.

Date What happened Who was responsible?
18 May 2023 The Supreme Court issued notice on Khalid's bail appeal. His counsel said they would wait until after the summer vacation rather than pursue an immediate vacation-bench hearing. Defence choice, but not a withdrawal or an adjournment requested by Khalid personally.
12 July 2023 Delhi Police requested more time to file its reply to the bail appeal. The court granted additional time. Prosecution-requested delay, not Khalid's.
24 July 2023 Khalid's lawyer sought an adjournment by circulating a letter, reportedly for personal/health reasons. The hearing was postponed by a week. Defence lawyer requested the adjournment. No public record cited here establishes that Khalid personally requested it.
9 August 2023 Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra recused himself from hearing the case. Judge-related delay, not Khalid's.
17 August 2023 The bail plea was dropped from the cause list after being listed before a bench that included the recused judge. Listing/court issue, not Khalid's.
18 August 2023 The court indicated that the matter required a regular hearing day rather than a miscellaneous-day listing. Court scheduling, not Khalid's.
5 September 2023 Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal was unavailable because he was appearing before the Constitution Bench hearing the Article 370 matters. Khalid's bail hearing was postponed. Defence counsel's unavailability. This was the second adjournment request identified in BOOM's fact-check.
12 September 2023 The court adjourned the matter for approximately a month. Court scheduling; the cited chronology does not attribute this to Khalid personally.
12 October 2023 The hearing was postponed because of a lack of time. Court-related delay.
31 October 2023 The bail plea was linked with proceedings challenging UAPA provisions. Sibal's unavailability also affected scheduling. Case-linking and counsel availability, not a documented personal request by Khalid.
29 November 2023 The court recorded a joint request from the parties to adjourn because the senior advocates expected to argue were unavailable. Joint request by both sides.
10 January 2024 The court considered the matter briefly; the defence requested 24 January rather than 17 January for the hearing to begin. Defence counsel requested the later date.
24 January 2024 C.U. Singh requested an adjournment because the bench had very little time remaining before it rose. The matter was moved to 31 January. Defence counsel requested the adjournment.
31 January 2024 Sibal asked that the hearing be listed on another day because he would be occupied in a Constitution Bench matter on 1 February. Defence counsel requested another date.
1 February 2024 The court adjourned the hearing to 7 February. Court scheduling; not a documented personal request by Khalid.
7 February 2024 The case was in the alternate list while the judges were occupied with another Constitution Bench matter. Judicial scheduling, not Khalid's.
14 February 2024 Sibal sought permission to withdraw Khalid's Supreme Court bail appeal, citing a change in circumstances. The Court allowed it. Defence withdrew the appeal on Khalid's behalf. The order does not establish that Khalid personally appeared or personally requested the withdrawal.

Defence request= accused request.

This cannot be attributed to prosecution or government or judge

Delhi High Court rejects latest bail appeal

The High Court dismissed Khalid's appeal against the Sessions Court's rejection of regular bail. This is the latest major bail decision identified in the available records.

u/socks-in-shoes 14d ago

It may be noted that the defense itself has requested time/another date multiple times.

The defense has missed dates. (Unavailability of Sibal)

The defense has pivoted strategy and started all over again.

4

u/Proof_Lawfulness_218 13d ago

Cud u explain the data (like u wud to a 5yo)

4

u/socks-in-shoes 12d ago

Basically, Khalid's own lawyer has asked for delay a number of times. (the defence)

and They have withdrawn their cases too.

The govt is not letting it happen is not true as the data clearly shows that both sides have asked for dates, sometimes mutually also.

If you yourself are asking to delay (multiple times) , then you cant blame the otherside.

1

u/Proof_Lawfulness_218 12d ago

Oh ok I understand now thx(lso y wud that be the case? Why is the defence delaying it, if they don't hv enuf evidence for his safety then he's just gonna rott away in the jail, the only thing I can see is that they r waiting for the current govt to go)

3

u/satveerking 11d ago

You are getting it wrong its quite the opposite even his own defendant knows that if trial happens he will be found guilty thats why they are using a loophole to not get trial and be sentenced to prison (with charges)

1

u/socks-in-shoes 11d ago

Why would defense of an innocent man choose to keep him in jail?

  1. It benefits him more to be in jail- His name is used as a political agenda and for spreading misinformation. Or it helps his own brand as a politician.

  2. They know that he is guilty but are waiting for a corrupt judge who they can use to get him out.

Probably both, tbh.

-2

u/SugoiSenpie 14d ago

Do you have a similar detailed list of bail applications by Ram Rahim?

6

u/ab316_1punchd 13d ago

Using Asaram would've been a more apt example.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim is not even a Hindu, let alone a saint, Dera Sacha Sauda takes more from Sikh iconography, and their voterbase were historically Congress supporters. His own son is married to the daughter of Congress politician Harminder Singh Jassi.

1

u/walaaha 13d ago

Yes I do. It goes like this .

BJP - bhai vote dilwa dee

Ram rahim - bhai gate khulwa de

1

u/ab316_1punchd 13d ago edited 13d ago

Isn't Gurmeet Ram Rahim's son married to a Congress leader's daughter?

11

u/cenacr007 14d ago

And why do you think the government has any say in this matter? The matter is with the courts, and they have denied bail multiple times, and the lawyers themselves have stalled the proceedings many times, as said by ex-CJI Chandrachud himself. I wonder why their lawyers did that? Maybe they know they will get the death penalty once the trial begins (see, it's very easy to speculate).

Coming to the free and fair trial gang, crores of pending cases in this country why no love for them? Doesn't suit the agenda? I hope he gets a free and fair trial when all the crores of pending cases get cleared.

4

u/Quiet-Western1391 13d ago

Whataboutism with the reference to the pending cases, the pending case of umar khalid is a landmark one as it dictates free speech of india and itd really tell if freedom of speech of india only lies w the people on the side of power.

Reasoning Concept: Tu Quoque (Whataboutism)

Deflecting criticism by pointing to someone else's similar behavior instead of addressing the argument. The other party's hypocrisy does not invalidate their argument.

Example: "You are criticizing Party A for corruption, but Party B did the same thing when they were in power." - Party B's corruption is worth discussing separately, but it does not answer the criticism of Party A. Both can be true at the same time.

Umar Khalid is quite controversial. Many say he is deliberately delaying the trial. No comments on him.

But I am very sure BJP leaders themselves were involved/responsible for the riots too. No action against them. Justice S. Murlidhar berated on Delhi Police for not filing cases against them. And what happened? Murlidhar himself was transferred overnight.

50

u/Mantikos6 15d ago

AAP leader was convicted for the murder of an IB operative

28

u/Sud4Gud 15d ago

HC judge was transferred when he tried to put a case on kapil mishra and anurag thakur.

12

u/Mantikos6 15d ago

And the police commissioner of Amritsar was transferred by AAP when he revealed the ISI link at Jantar Mantar CJP

24

u/ni_Kawaii_Hito 14d ago

Weird that you hear someone say that a BJP minister walked scott free due to curroption and your response is to cry about what AAP did.

AAP is curropt, but do you admit that your favorite daddy's party protected Mishra? Or are you just going to list what AAP and Congress has done as if listing name of other rapists makes your favourite rapists not be one.

4

u/SpiritedSprinkles618 14d ago

Umar is one of their favourite key words. If they spot it on the internet they'll come in a swarm and have an orgy there.

The phenomenon you described is a manipulation strategy called the DARVO.

The cell is a master of the Darvo but its marginal utility is exhausted cause they have been doing it for 12 years.

There's no innovation or evolution happening, ITS SO BORING. Sounds like a broken tape recorder.

Guys please start calling out the DARVO when you spot it. These guys are too lazy to innovate by themselves. They need a push.

Delhi police commissioner was transferred before they started throwing tear gas and lathi charged students. Good convenient shift from delhi riots to CJP protests.

-11

u/Mantikos6 15d ago

They lathi charged rioters destroying public property - plenty of videos of that lol

9

u/Sud4Gud 15d ago

They threatened protestors with genocide plenty of videos for that. They threatened protestors with violence, please try of videos for that. They destroyed cctv so that rss goons could throw stones at protestors alongwith the police plenty of videos for that. They spread fake news about protestors plenty of videos for that. But no videos for umar khalid calling for violence. Still he is in jail. Because a coward with a fake degree is unable to initiate proceedings for fear of losing and his propaganda being busted live in court.

1

u/legopenerjatt 14d ago

That's what is the problem with you leftists , you criticize bjp for their wrongdoings well and good but how can you defend Umar khalid, he literally gave speeches about india's partition and spoke in favour of afzal guru , the man responsible for parliament attack Shame on you

3

u/Sud4Gud 14d ago

That's the problem with you right wingers, believe propaganda so easily. Do you know what he even said about afzal guru? Not just one 30 sec clip which comes on your insta but the actual viewpoint? Or do you decide your viewpoints based on WhatsApp forwards and insta videos? Also tell me what he said about India's partition. Are you referring to the fake video which was debunked a decade back?

27

u/Wonderful_Doubt_279 15d ago

Maybe you should ask him, why his lawyer, Kapil Sibal, withdrew his bail plea 7 times till sept 2025

6

u/Hippocrite24 14d ago

That's false news bro by checking it, Umar side has 2 adjournment last was in 2023 and other side has 10

Crazy ratio difference

16

u/ragn11 14d ago

Sibal did it once for some reason and his other lawyer did it once due to health reasons.

2 is not 7. Compare to multiple times courts did

u/AffectionateAir1317 15d ago

Goal post shifting

13

u/doyoubleedngga 15d ago

That is not goal post shifting. It's shame that Chief justice of India is spewing bullshit on social media to shape a narrative.

Khalid's lawyer sought adjournment/postponement only two times, first is due to health reasons and second is due to clash with article 370 case (mentioned in the article ss you shared)

I don't think only 2 postponements will delay the case by 6 years 🤷🤷

-6

u/Ok_Entertainment1040 15d ago

I don't think only 2 postponements will delay the case by 6 years

That's not the point. The point is how serious they themselves are about the trial.

11

u/doyoubleedngga 15d ago

So what about other 11 times that got delayed ? Why isn't "Serious" govt is pursuing this?

-7

u/Ok_Entertainment1040 15d ago

According to you the govt is anyway being ugly. Atleast the people who are supposed to keep him out of jail be the ones serious about it. I mean if the person giving an exam is not serious, why would the invigilator be?

13

u/doyoubleedngga 15d ago

That exam comparison is bullshit. A student can keep writing an exam even if the invigilator leaves the room, but a court case is a two side affair. The State isn't a neutral invigilator, they are the active opponent trying to keep him in jail.

A better comparison is a boxing match where the State is opponent and courts are referee.

If you ask for a timeout twice, but your opponent and the referee halt the fight 11 times for procedural reasons, it would be absurd to claim you aren't serious about fighting. Blaming the defense for 2 delays while ignoring 11 delays caused by the other side and the referee is just mental gymnastics.

You can build castles in the air but make no mistake a tornado is also built on air. For it was your choice to put Khalid behind bars under sedition a law which is British era law to ensure Indians abide. But then we got freedom, now what are these bylaws you want us to abide. Khalid deserves a free trial and 1 CR/year compensation for the state wasted his life.

So if govt (police) decides you are a terrorist based on altered videos (which are btw proved by forensic labs as doctored videos, wonder who made them!!) and files a FIR listing UAPA charges.

Shall we put you behind bars for an eternity without trails??

What nonsensical conspiracy is this, to think the BJP, THE BJP is ALWAYS conspiring with the Delhi HC or Supreme Court on cases like this? No government is that jobless to be bothered about 2-paisa islamists like Imam and Khalid. The Judiciary is not that compromised. You people need to come off your high horse midwittery.

And no, I'd want a fair trial for any Indian citizen except these two, whom I don't care 1 bit.

2

u/Ok_Association5253 11d ago

Atp, whatever happens in india, its because of modi. 🤣 like i saw a comment regarding something happened in congress rules state. And the commentors were saying. Its because of modi. Someone said that congress is ruling here. He replied. So what. Bjp is in centre, so modi did this and that. 🤡

1

u/Mayan_Namugade 14d ago

But they have others things to change like , controlling who they can appoint as CEC

3

u/Organic_Employ_1894 14d ago

Trail do, let the facts be available for everyone to see how vile and evil these two are. They have ruined indian constitution and endangered democracy. In any case trail pura karo or rafa dafa karo. Kundali mar k kyu baithe hue ho. Insaaf hona chahiye.

3

u/AurumMark 14d ago

So BJP controls Courts now?

2

u/Broad-Bandicoot3922 14d ago

Obviously son. Did you really thought judiciary is still independent? They are just doing the bare minimum in the foreground to keep.

2

u/AurumMark 14d ago

The people in Judiciary can have their personal opinions bro but they don't listen to the government be it from state or central if you provide facts & evidence, only then they pass a judgement.

1

u/Mayan_Namugade 14d ago

Bro if they can control how to appoint CEC so they can actually control the court too , they removed the CJI position and replaced it by another union cabinet minister , for appointing CEC , which is like majority they can do anything without LOP , LOP is just for showcase that they are still electing CEC democratically

2

u/AurumMark 14d ago

The government elects the CEC & the rule was passed in Congress Government. The CEC may disagree with one another but the decisions are only passed when they are unanimously agreed to.

2

u/Mayan_Namugade 14d ago

Bro BJP changed the rule of appointing CEC and after these many years now SC has also said that this is not right way of appointing a CEC , check articles

2

u/guyfromsomewhere7 14d ago

When did SC say that this is not the right way of appointing CEC? In the recent judgement of the Supreme Court bench of justice Datta and Sharma gave different opinions but reached to same conclusion of giving the case to a 5 judge bench. The case is sub judice not "wrong way" by the court

I understand that just typing random stuff is very easy, with cheap internet and just pressing some keys. And most importantly no use of logical brain. ..
But I think rather making conspiracy theories and spreading them, it would be better for you to go check the details of what all is happening, who is stopping or delaying what, what is missing etc. with that information, a smart person would be able to make an informed conclusion.

Also, india has a huge backlog in courts with many cases not reaching to trials for a decade plus.So but for this case also.. unfortunate may be .. but not big deal.

It took over 25+ years to charge and start trail against Leftist Islamist terrorist Yasin malik under Manmohan Singh government he had full freedom after his organisation has killed 100s of Hindus. So this Umar Khalid who supports Afzal Guru , burhan wani can wait 25 years in Tihar to begin trial.

1

u/Spiritual-Border-178 14d ago

Your question prompted to prompt Ai to give a timeline of the delay and here is what I got , so to me it's both side trying to delay as much as they can because both are benefitting out of it , longer Umar stays in jail stronger he became an idol of his followers

Umar Khalid case — delay chronology Period / event What happened Main source of delay What it tells us Sept 2020 Umar Khalid arrested in the larger-conspiracy Delhi riots case. — Case begins. The Week Sept 2020–June 2023 Main and supplementary chargesheets filed, including the final chargesheet in June 2023. Investigation/prosecution The prosecution itself took years to complete the investigative record. The Week July 2021 Khalid filed his first bail application; it was withdrawn after a maintainability objection, then another application followed. Defence/procedural This is a genuine defence-side contribution to delay, although relatively small compared with the entire period. The Indian Express March 2022 Trial court rejected bail. Court decision Khalid then moved the Delhi HC. The Indian Express Apr–Oct 2022 Delhi HC heard the bail challenge and rejected it in October. Court process Not simply a prosecution-caused delay. The Indian Express 2022–23 Khalid approached Supreme Court. During the HC proceedings, the bench reserved judgment but judgment wasn't delivered for months; Justice Mridul was transferred and the matter was heard afresh. Court/bench changes A significant part of the delay was institutional rather than caused by Khalid. The Indian Express Aug 2023 Justice P.K. Mishra recused himself from the Supreme Court proceedings. Court Another judicial development causing delay. The Indian Express Apr 2023–Feb 2024 Supreme Court bail proceedings involved numerous adjournments. Khalid eventually withdrew the petition in Feb 2024. Mixed This is the period where claims from both sides have some basis. Khalid's side did seek adjournments, but reporting also records State requests, scheduling problems and recusals. International Commission of Jurists +1 Feb 2024 Khalid withdrew the SC petition and returned to the trial court. Defence decision This necessarily restarted the bail process at another level. The Indian Express Mar–May 2024 Fresh bail application filed; trial court rejected it in May. Court process Another judicial stage rather than simply government delay. The Indian Express July 2024 Justice Amit Sharma recused from hearing the HC bail appeal. Court Another clear institutional delay. The Indian Express July 2025 Delhi HC reserved judgment on the bail appeals. Court The matter had already been pending for a considerable period. The Week Sept 2, 2025 Delhi HC rejected Khalid's bail. Court decision Khalid then went to SC. The Week Oct 2025 In SC, Delhi Police sought two additional weeks to respond; the Supreme Court criticised the request, saying sufficient time had already been given. Government/prosecution This is a particularly clear example of prosecution-side delay. The Indian Express Dec 2025 SC concluded hearings and reserved judgment. Court — The Week Jan 5, 2026 SC rejected bail for Khalid and Sharjeel Imam, while granting bail to several other accused. Court decision Important distinction between different accused. Sci API Jan 13, 2026 In subsequent proceedings, Khalid's counsel sought an adjournment because the arguing counsel was engaged in another court. Defence A documented defence-side delay. Indian Kanoon May 19, 2026 Court condoned a 97-day delay in filing Khalid's written synopsis. Defence Another concrete defence-side procedural delay. Indian Kanoon May 2026 Supreme Court referred the broader UAPA/prolonged-incarceration bail question to a larger bench after conflicting approaches emerged. Court/legal system The legal question itself became a source of additional complexity. The Indian Express July 31, 2026 Delhi HC was dealing with Khalid's third regular-bail application after the trial court rejected it. Court process Shows the repeated litigation cycle. Indian Kanoon Sept 21, 2026 Hearing adjourned because ASG S.V. Raju, the government's lead counsel, was unwell. Government/prosecution A very clear recent example that cannot reasonably be attributed to Umar. Indian Kanoon Sept 30, 2026 Delhi HC again rejected Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam's bail pleas. Court decision Latest major development.

This government is incompetent, and I hope it is ousted by the people of India. However, one thing I have noticed is that every political leader has talked about Sharjeel Imam, but no one is talking about Captain Smith Machhar, who is a hero. The opposition must praise heroes, not the 'tukde gang'.

1

u/kabbajabbadabba 14d ago

love when terrorists sympathisers rot.

1

u/garousee 14d ago

I love how we treat goverment, like from op's and lot of others pov govt is scared of trial, same govt who are  apparently okay with delaying justice but are so moral they'd rather delay it on principle then interfere with judicial process whatsoever to get the verdict they'd want, better class of criminal's ig

India is so progressive with first gay couple in the cabinet

1

u/No-Foundation-8133 14d ago

Can any rational right wing explain why case is proceeding don't give this bull shit : " that Khalid lawyer is delaying " , i don't think so being labeled as terrorist, and living in jail is fun. And even factually there were 14 adjournment 7 from court , 5 from Khalid and 2 from Delhi police.

Tbh if he is criminal then it would be good that he got punishment

1

u/Frosty-Teaching4476 14d ago

As if social media communications don't exist, with WhatsApp and Telegram channels. His presence is not even required to still orchestrate the riots. Was Modi present in Godhra? Was Rajiv Gandhi present in Punjab? Was Akhilesh Yadav present in Muzzaffarnagar?

If there was no direct evidence of terrorism, then how was the UAPA charge established against Umar Khalid successfully within the investigation period? For comparison, Matthew VanDyke didn't get slapped with the UAPA charge due to pending investigation.

The so-called manipulated anti-national slogans aren't relevant to the Delhi Riots since it was part of the 2016 JNU protests where calls were made against awarding the death penalty to Afzal Guru, an event he was still a part of. And only two of the alleged six video evidences were considered fully doctored (the one where "Tum Kitne Afzal maaroge" was declared legitimate).

And yeah, I do want a trial for Khalid so that everything is cleared once-and-for-all and no stupid propaganda is made out of him, culpability or innocence.

1

u/beingalife 13d ago

Kapil Mishra, a BJP minister, was present at the Delhi Riots. Check the statements he made during the student protests before the riots started. Rest, you all are capable of making your own conclusions.

1

u/Clean-Scheme-7724 13d ago

umar's lawyers dont want the trial to happen

1

u/orionishere4u 13d ago

Can someone explain to me how the rejection of a bail plea is equal to injustice? Am I entitled to bail no matter how horrific my crimes are?

1

u/amoghzie 13d ago

This Umar Khalid being behind bars is very similar to Kejriwal - Sisodia being put behind bars. Just political powerplay

1

u/Extra_Gain3556 12d ago

😆😆😆😆😆 jail main mare ge dono antki

1

u/Rage0327 12d ago

Nobody is scared of the trial, the evidence is clear. This is more like extending the sentence, and giving an anti national hell, so that they can be made examples of. And I fully support it, nothing comes before this country. Infact I support killing all those brutally who come in support of these randkiaulads, the liberals are chootswho would sleep with the left just to oppose the right. Where is the middle ground.

And obviously the brainless government is installed by someone someone who is expert at installing puppets

Are you are terror supporter, do you think someone like them shout be out on bail? Have you been schooled by JNU Neha Bora to post propaganda on Critical thinking. Anyone who is Indian can clearly spot the agenda here. Keep crying for Kashmir, Palistine and liberal naxals 😭

Umar Khalid talks of separating the nation. That's enough for anyone to go to prison. Let him stay there

Saying that right to life cease in emergency and Supreme Court agreed to it with one judge not agreeing and that one judge got punished by the ruling govt by taking away his CJIship

A fair trail would expose all doctored evidence that circulated in WhatsApp even if judgment is against him.

If the right to invite was followed strictly and as per the law, the first people in Jail would be the Assam CM, Uttarakhand CM and the UP CM. Their hate speeches are like crazy

6

u/Left-Armadillo-9418 14d ago

Maybe you should share some examples of their hate speeches. Because as someone who does not like BJP, even I have never heard their senior brass like these CMs to directly give a hate speech.

Aww communist if u have issues with the SC proceedings why don’t u file a case against in SC

0

u/Less_Ice4678 14d ago

Actually you should read the complete case... Much of the delay is infact caused by umar's side due to request for further dates again and again

0

u/SafeRain3588 14d ago

But if the court denies bail and all the accusations which are there on him are still unproven to be “not guilty”, why the hell does people want to free Umar Khalid. Maybe he deserves to be in the Prison?

0

u/Invincible_Slime 14d ago

India has barely any rule of law, 6 years passed either jail him or release him. Why is he still in jail with unproven guilt
