LONDON — Massive protests erupted at Parliament Square today as thousands gathered for a demonstration led by Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee. The crowd rallied against alleged voter list irregularities in India, chanting highly charged slogans, including the viral chant targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The event laid bare deep divisions within the Indian diaspora. While Rathee’s supporters demanded electoral transparency following recent political friction in Delhi, a counter-protest simultaneously gathered outside the Indian High Commission to express solidarity with the Indian government. The overseas demonstration has sparked intense online debate, with critics arguing that staging domestic political disputes abroad fuels regional polarization.

A simple question for critical thinkers: SFI's core ideology is total opposition to Western capitalist imperialism. Yet they protest in London and proudly highlight that the UK supports their cause in India.
Why would a "revolutionary" movement seek moral validation from the very capitalist empire it claims to despise? 🤔🤔

u/Phantomlund 10h ago
On side note. Ppl wont have problem now, but if few ppl would be doing garba in this same park, everyone would be losing their shit
11
u/the_rolling_paper 10h ago
These are designated protest sites. You can even do Garba there, no one would question you.
7
u/Kitchen_Watch7254 10h ago
Nope, he meant if this was a video of Indian group doing garba, comments would be like "No civic sense, dirty dehatis, ruining Indian reputation" etc type
-5
u/nomadiclives 10h ago
Yes cos bhankass dancing to ugly ass music and political protests are one and the same thing. You people are really brainless!
5
u/Kitchen_Watch7254 10h ago
See, we got tons of self racists, we don't even need foreign racists. MAGA would be so pissed rn
2
u/Long_Ad_7350 9h ago
I love how the only response the above user had to you was to have an absolute meltdown of insults lmfao.
Uncritical thinkers.

u/DearthStanding 10h ago
if you "think critically" you'll find these criticisms come when people do this crap in restaurants and trains and on the street. this is literally the designated place. don't conflate people misbehaving with people having fun.
garba is fine, garba is fun. just do it in an appropriate place. unlike the protests, nobody is out stopping you from doing garba. nobody even stops them from doing the garba in the restaurant or the train.
it's so disingenuous to compare an action that gets institutional opposition (in India it's the CEC protests, in the UK it's pro Palestine protests. same idea at play) with an action that literally nobody stops you from doing
this same critique is also directed at those idiots who did those reels with the Telugu songs at the 9/11 memorial and all. don't play games man it's very easy to understand what's appropriate to do and what's inappropriate. nobody stopped the obnoxious garba dancers nobody stopped the obnoxious kids making reels. the system DID beat up and stop protesters. it DID arrest people. you're comparing mean comments with systemic opposition
8
u/Kitchen_Watch7254 10h ago
Nope, they don't
They come when Indian religious parades are carried out in designated places escorted by police, but the comments are all filled with hate from Indians only.
There is hate for any Indian expressing themselves publicly, unless they are pleading allegiance to the white man.
They come when Indians are happy at any place, where locals don't seem to have a problem, but apparently Indians themselves have a problem
They come as a criticism for indians only by Indians as a highest form of self hate.
Your comment is an example as well. While tons of people record tiktoks at 911 memorial, targeted hate comes at Indians by racists ( https://www.reddit.com/r/911archive/comments/1ikw3a1/tiktoks_at_the_memorial/ ) and Indians support the racists.

I'll say we setting a good example for those, especially Pakistanis. People there have been living under military rule since forever, they need see how democracy works. People have rights to demand the change.
People shouldn't be afraid for politicians.

u/Revolutionary_Log874 8h ago
You equate India = Modi and cry about London being "mostly" Pakistani and Bangladeshis. Walking hazard right here. Please get out of my nation, and take modi with you.

Yeah, I hope they would limit it to insulting our corrupt PM and the ECI etc. I am good with that. These corrupt authorities are a shame on India itself and the sooner they go, it will be better for India.
I will be pissed off if I see these protestors insult India itself. India deserves better public servants than Modi and his ilk. So they should stick to insulting the corrupt politicians
-4
u/ab09895 10h ago
Protesting isn't an insult. Not answering to the public that elected you, is. Also, 8% of London population is indian, and Pakistani and Bangladeshis are 4% each. Please don't say ", fully of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis", it's not hard to look up things online and not be fed propaganda news through media channels and WhatsApp. Good luck.
4
6
u/Hairy-Letterhead-247 10h ago
As if all 8% people living in London are protesting.
3
u/ab09895 10h ago
Just like not all of indians who support the cause are protesting in Delhi? :)
1
u/Hairy-Letterhead-247 10h ago
Absolutely. It is healthy for democracy to have different opinions. Whatever they want to do, do it in India. Protesting in a foreign country will not help it. Western countries are already fed up with foreigners in their countries. They don't give a damn about things happening in India. For them we are just a "third world" (translated as poor) country.
5
u/ab09895 9h ago
It does help, perception matters. How when all those NRIs were chanting Modi-Modi on those Modi visits, now showing disapproval to what's happening matters. Of course, not everyone in here understands or cares, but most of my uni friends and colleagues have been supportive and understanding.
1
u/Purplewings169 10h ago
Who’s checking the original nationality of those protesting there? What’s stopping Pakistanis and Bangladeshis from joining?

Why does it matter what expats think in a foreign country? Their mayor is a Pakistani. Tells you about the diaspora living there. They can say or do whatever they want to say and do. It should neither concern India nor should it should be discussed here. England needs to worry about its own internal affairs. They are changing PMs like Anant Ambani changes watches !

Winning election won't be a problem imo. Since buying MPs in GBP will be out of limits for Adani and Ambani anyway.

u/VinsmokeZoro30553 10h ago
Wdym sitting in London?? We saw what our country did to them when they protested. And the likes of y'all are just allowing what the British did.....The detentions, the lychings, goons roaming freely, police brutality....Exact same footprint set by the British

Not "these" guys support Brexit, but you can know...
Right-wing UK supports Brexit, and right-wing India supports 56".
If you're looking for that kind of comparison, which I wouldn't do, critically.

Don't worry, they already had an Indian origin PM, but rejected him and today, India overtook UK in nominal GDP, for second time. For sh*ts and giggles 🤣
3
u/Nuttednutela 9h ago
Bangladesh has higjer per capita GDP so keep shitting
1
u/vgodara 8h ago
Might wanna check why it happened.
It's because European felt guilty about indirectly supporting Pakistan army while it was committing genocide in Bangladesh . So they gave them sweet trade deal with zero percent import duties. This is about to change this year.
Let's hope they are able to renew it. Because again they would be bearing the burnt of climate change in upcoming decades.

Where was this logic while branding Rahul Gandhi as pappu? The double standards and hypocrisy doesn’t stop lol
3
u/ThorOdinsonThunder 9h ago
Tell me an achievement of papoo? Coming from a family of generations of PMs he has lost his generational seats and made the party go downhill.
If Modi was born in any family he would still be the PM but if papoo was born in any other family would would’ve never ever been a class monitor.
He is an impotent man who blames the bed for not being able to be a father.

Damn now we know why RAGA and congress loses every supporter is living outside

This is pretty pathetic. Making a spectacle of the protest outside just weakens it and gives government more fodder against them while also giving them another excuse to harden their stance.

Shame on Indians, if they were indeed, who attended this protests . We may have 100 problems inside but that’s internal problem for external world we are one nation. Why there is a desperation to let outsiders know what is problem in India
9
u/WhatWouldYouDoDear 9h ago
I love how foreign perception matters more than internal sufferings, almost mirrors conditions of an Indian household
0
u/prmths_1 9h ago
Oh my god, why is this so true? Even foreigners themselves don't put their suffering above their image. But it's always Indians I've seen who do this
3
u/Nuttednutela 9h ago
Cuz voices are being curbed here? Democracy as a form of governance is totally pressurised and under scrutiny in the world's largest so called democractic nation amd once this kind of model is well established here in India where multiple ethic groups co-exist then smaller nations can easily take the example and follow. Of course there are laws in place but you can already see they can be conveniently used against protestors while the real criminals roam freely. If you curb voice on one stage then another one takes the precedent.
-2
u/No_Dog8565 8h ago
If it really curbed , u would have not freely posting this message , Dipke and funded gang world have not had free raided for last 4 months . Dhruv would have never gone outside India. Stop acting like goat and get brain washed . If u want to see how life of corned behaves go and see China or USA

What I think is honestly politics is a different game . People here r protesting in London making a spectacle for just 1 day . On the other side a special parliament session will be called this month to pass de limitation and women reservation bill . Here Amit shah and Modi busing collecting support in Lok Sabha to pass these bills and on the other side these morons are protesting thinking they r making an impact . BJP is going to increase seats to 850 . No political party has funds or ground machinery to fight on all these seats . Let that sink in .
-1
u/One_Tea7507 9h ago
See no matter do you agree with PM Modi or not.. but nobody has a right to call him like this that to in a foreign country.. the Prime Minister of the country . No matter you don't respect the person but respect that post
-1
u/Heavy_Record8704 8h ago
i cannot believe that so many people here cannot see through Dhruv Rathee and his intentions! It is obvious that he is doing this for himself. Are people so naive or stupid ?
-1
u/niteshbiyani 8h ago
So now you madarch0ds are not even hiding it anymore? Literally getting support from Pakistanis and Bangladeshis? Like atleast make it not look like foreign funded atleast! Also massive crowd?? I see 30-40 people!🤣🤣
