CDJs/XDJs to pair with an XDJ-AZ

I've been wanting to add two standalones to my az, I was curious on some opinions on what I should go with. I'd like to not spend a ridiculous amount, so I've been mainly looking at CDJ-900NXS, XDJ-1000Mk2, and CDJ-2000s. Ideally would like to stay at 1500 or less for 2 total, and I've found a few that are in that range. Anyone have recommendations as to what I should go with or just advice?

XDJ1000mk2 you can find 2 for $1500 with some patience. Same with CDJ2000’s. 900 NXS would recommend steering away from

edit: only go for the 2000’s if you can get nexus2… otherwise xdj1000mk2

opposite of this, i say steer away from 2000s and get a pair of 900NXS they’re the shit

actually I agree. I’d just get the XDJ1000mk2 to be fair.

fair fair i think the mk2 is probably what i’m gonna do. found someone selling a pair for 1500 on the dot. the other option was someone selling the 900nxs for 1000

I’m going back on what I said. I think 1000’s are better choice than either the 2000 (non nxs, or the 900nxs). I think that the 900 NXS are great but for similar price I’d head to the XDJ’s

honestly the 1000mk2 do support flac files which is nice bc i use a lot of flac. but like i was curious as well like if anyone has used either from firsthand experience like quality and whatnot. regardless i have pads on my az so like the hot cue pads aren’t that big of a deal if they’re not on em. of course i am a sucker for the cdj name but so far functionality ive seen good things about the xdj mk2

unless i stumble upon a small fortune or find a good deal the 2000nxs2 is more than likely off the table. ideally i’d like a pair instead of buying one mainly. i feel like one isn’t worth the tag

You should second guess it you really need to add to your AZ. How often are you using channels? Would adding two cdjs or xdjs really improve your mixing that much? Would it compliment your style or complicate?

Honestly, I personally enjoy them (ive played on 3000xs before) plus my main genre is dubstep and riddim so I do use my other channels a decent amount. But I don't disagree, I for sure think its probably overkill in the grand scheme of things, but I cant lie when i say I'd love the setup and i would enjoy it for sure.

Yeah i’ve found a handful of both for around 1500, i just wanted to know if it was absolutely worth getting cdj2000nsx2s for the money.

the 2000nxs2 are much more expensive. They’re closer to $1500 each. I’d go for the XDJ1000mk2

One locally (i had to replace tempo slider, and cue/play buttons, parts under $100) the other i got from guitar center used in mind condition. (They had it listed as a regular nxs)

Just be aware that with current firmware, the AZ will not receive waveform data from external CDJs. When the AZ is the master deck, the AZ waveforms will show up on the external players though. I’d personally look at something newer, because that compatibility is likely coming in the future but may not be backwards compatible.

So what do you recommend then? Or is it usable with this firmware issue? My buddy has an xz and he just got a single cdj 2000, so I wonder if he has a similar issue?

XZ/2000 both run the same library format. I've got AZ+3000x, hopefully they will properly communicate with a firmware update. I would assuming AZ+1500 would work well too.

Yeah thats where I'm kind of sitting at. unfortunately I can't say I have the funds for a 3000x or a 1500, or else I would buy them. Thats why the xdj 1000mk2/cdj 900nxs have been the main ones I looked at

I've been meaning to test out some older CDJs with my AZ. A buddy of mine has xdj 1000mk2... Will try to let you know if we make them work together, last time we did the setup he forgot his power supply.
