Has anybody ever fitted gps trackers inside their gear in case they get stolen? CDJS and mixer?

They are permanently in my home. But just in case they do make it in and take them.

Take them to a repair shop and ask the guy to open them up and stick the air tags in. There will be room. Apologies I’m not up to speed with other tracking devices. There may be “less intrusive” trackers available 😂

Airtags will notify the thieft that one is following him, so its kinda shit for that.

Only if you ring it while not being any where near the deck. You can track on your phone and then ring when you are close ?

Nah you will litterally recieve a notification on your phone that an airtag is following you. Its so that you cant put it in someones purse/car without them knowing to track them.

Unless you can figure out a way to wire up the tracker with a rechargeable battery that charges any time the CDJ is plugged in, you're wasting your time, since you'd have to open the CDJ up every time the battery in the tracker dies.

Yeah I'd have to make them leech of the mains to keep the battery charged at 100%.

There is definitely room inside them for a small one for sure

Don't use an airtag OP, that's not as reliable as GPS, as it relies on Bluetooth and other phones to be around to locate it.

Yeah exactly why I made this question. I would've also loved if there was a solution that did battery with a powersupply backup (maybe even leeching of the mains power supply).

Is there a Kensington lock on them that would help secure them?

Yes, there are Kensington locks on most Pioneer / AT equipment, the higher end stuff, at least

Got those already, but I get the impression they aren't as strong as they make it seem.

Maybe, but it's a deterrent more than anything. If someone breaks in and your house alarm is going off, they won't spend too long trying to grab bulky equipment, they'll want to get out asap.

What's your setup like - could you fit something over the decks to prevent them being lifted like a lockable lid?

Not yet, but I'd love to make something.
