A dj set of 3 hours wow! I was 6 in 1997 and I remember seeing the music video of Around the World in 97/98, but I’m curious how they blew up so fast to the point that they were already headlining this event when Homework was not or was just released.

I think they were popular in the upper Midwest around that time because Drop Bass Network was the first to bring DaftPunk to the US in 1996 for a big campout rave called “Even Further” in rural Wisconsin. The videos of daftpunk that night are on YouTube. I remember being close to the front at even further and watching them as they took the RCA cable out of the back of the mixer and were tapping it on the mixer to the beat from the other turntable, I’d never seen anyone DJ like that before and they blew the roof off the place. So they got booked for Minneapolis due to that reputation. It was full in that place and we were all tripping balls on lsd. A true acid party.
