Video Making of diwali lights in India

Before chinese invasion to market. People use to go to local electrical shop and take order for new or got repaired. Local kids used to do the jobs in those shops during vacation/ after school. Each filament bulb was tested and bargained. Of course they were not as bright as led but fancy enough for many. China cracked market by making it more bright, variety and cheap.

Whatever happened to make in india? Oh right it was a national scam. 😂
29
9
u/Facts_pls 14h ago
It was an attempt. Some of it worked. Some didn't. Doesn't make it a scam. All you have to do is look at stuff without a garbage biased mind.
India has become a major manufacturer in various markets - including solar panel - behind China. Plenty of other manufacturing started in India that didn't happen earlier.

u/psychonaut_gospel 13h ago
Save your breath. People losing hope grasping at straws. India and china are both rapidly growing and transforming. The "west" is seriously walking around with pants around ankles wanking at the air looking for anything to hold onto.
-2
u/Sacrificial-Avocado 9h ago
India? Sure. But we will continue to laugh at the paper dragon. All those aircraft carriers made of tinfoil look formidable though, don't they? And I wonder when oh so advanced China is gonna figure out that bulking out meat with used paper products and frying food in motor oil is a bad idea lmao. Yeah, we're really shaking in our boots.

Indian don't have dignity of labour and hard work is not appreciated by its social structure or financial systems. The electrician who made money poured all that in his kids education so they can work in software companies where they have better working conditions. Else that money went in real estate to house themselves. In a society where basic necessity like housing is a generational aspiration and effort, over there no labour will participate in excelling in their skills or innovation at work. The whole effort goes in securing the future either by education or investment which repays to next generation. Which bring dignity and make them fill part of society. China exceeds here from all countries the current chinese generation don't have to worry for housing and its cost. Everything else is provided by govt so they focus on work. Reason they can easily build affordable products because living cost is affordable in China.

I've lived that life and experienced it first hand. Excellence and empathy has no place in indian society in general.

u/thissitedesigniscrap 18h ago
It’s a mistake to post anything India-related in this sub. It’s like dangling meat over a pool of piranhas.
The amount of racism that will arise will make 4chan blush.
156
u/mxforest 17h ago
Rename it to Christmas or Halloween decoration and watch the upvotes flow in.

u/isaacMeowton 16h ago
Actually I’m intrigued now, hope someone reposts it by changing the title lol.

It’s all fueled by bot farms with vested interests that people are stupidly latching onto. Reminds me of the time around Brexit. Same tactics different target.
59
u/ParticularVoice919 17h ago
It’s not just bot farms. Why is it hard for you to admit there are racist people in the West instead of defaulting to blaming bot farms for all racism. It should not be hard to admit that Leftist Reddit is slowly becoming as much racist as right dominated X.
16
u/No-No-Aniyo 16h ago
In the west? Lol bro racism is world wide. Show me a place not affected by racism? If its not coming from outsiders its still coming from your own people (whoever that is).
All over the world. People only notice it more in the west because of how diverse the west is. But thats because the east is more isolated. Let someone from a different race visit an eastern country and they will be exposed to racism too. Y'all just dont see it daily so you think you have less of it when in reality you only have less exposure to it.
2
u/KerissaKenro 14h ago
If it is not racism it’s cultural bigotry. Or in India’s case, based on caste. Prejudice is universal
1
u/No_Floor3379 1h ago
Caste is a western idea imported in india, middle East should properly be renamed as Eastern West & West is the famous West ofcourse.
11
u/Centeredrightbhakt05 15h ago
The racism against India has crept from internet to reality not the otherway around. This a very well known fact that these bot farms are funded by GLISCO DS.

If people were actually as racist towards Indian as it looks like on the internet there would be genocides going on .
We are not quite there yet- give it 5-10 years.
0
u/x_Leigh_x 11h ago
Would you be so nonchalant if whites were the target? Racism is only funny until whites are the butt if the joke.
0
u/OkParsnip1881 10h ago edited 10h ago
I am Indian American. I’m not joking. I genuinely think we are headed towards genocide in a few countries. Look at myranmar .
I’m not planning to stay in here in the US long term because of this. I was born here too, was here during 9/11, what’s happening now is worse. Because it’s not based in reality or any event where it would die down

Actually I am surprised by the craftsmanship and quality.
-62
u/Phage0070 16h ago
What craftsmanship? They bought a machine that takes pre-made LEDs (presumably from China) and attaches them to a string of wire they again didn’t make. The only “craftsmanship” is soldering four wires onto a premade circuit board (which doesn’t seem to get a housing?) and then zip-tying the coil of lights together.
This is the bare minimum to get a functional string of LED lights.
12
u/bbcheadline 11h ago
We get it, you're a chinaphile
-12
u/Phage0070 10h ago
I'm saying the LEDs probably came from China because they make a lot of them, and they look really cheap.

Traditional clay lamp with oil is getting rarer or are they no longer a thing?
The lights in this video are the one used on Christmas tree and on house and sometimes it becomes a competition on which house has the most lights to impress.
4
u/ShayJayLee 15h ago
Both! The idea is to light up every corner of the house so these are for places where diyas (clay lamps 🪔) would be less practical.
21
u/Aggravating_Sea7552 18h ago
We still use this. Every single household celebrating diwali uses clay lamps
2
u/comelickmyarmpits 15h ago
Nope , if anything most of indian households do with clay lamp . ,
Like inside of every corner we place clay lamps and for outside front we dangle these cheap electrical light strips
1
u/slolucidly 15h ago
Still a thing. Almost all households do light diyas on the door front of the house atleast.
1
u/chitownboyhere 14h ago
Clay lamp - atleast 5 are must. Some people have upto 100 such lamps. Led lights are on top of that.

Y'all can spam all you want, but wouldn't make a difference when it comes to what makes something interesting. The upvotes to comments ratio shows it. Go farm your spam somewhere else.
25
u/mxforest 17h ago
Stop gatekeeping and let the votes do the talking. You don't get to decide the definition of interesting.
-23
u/JustBunsAndEyes 17h ago
Tis not gatekeeping to have minimum standards. Y'all are too triggered for the lack of creativity. (I say y'all coz all the bots are swarming and spamming)
3
u/mxforest 15h ago
Do you have a link where I can see these minimum standards you speak of? I thought votes decide the standard.
1
4
u/Nandu_alias_Parthu 13h ago
The upvotes to comments ratio show that most people who viewed this were interested in it. So you can go spam your bs elsewhere.
-25
u/Proof_Commission_425 17h ago
Absolutely right. The standard of this sub is going south.
2
u/x_Leigh_x 11h ago
If this were in Germany or Sweden, you’d be yodeling about how fascinating it is.
12
u/mxforest 17h ago
Gatekeeping much? Let the votes decide what is interesting and what is not. If enough people feel the same way you do, it will not pop up.
-1
u/Berntam 12h ago
It's not just this sub, you haven't noticed all the india good, india interesting, wow indian achievements! with the top comments complaining about non-existant anti India racism in the thread? Or even when there's some they're all downvoted to shit. Watch as they swarm my comment like ants.
-25

😁👍

u/Omnomnomnivirus 17h ago
why tf were you downvoted? 😂

Bruh I was just mimicking the dude at the end, truly a reddit when humor moment

Bots will downvote anything. I shows a country trying too hard to be liked. Meanwhile its people travel to distinctly better maintained southeast asian countries with a superiority complex and an inflated slightly less devalued currency.

I hate this festival to the core have to wake up with a red eyes and sore throat because of the firecrackers and air pollution. Locked inside a room but still have to smell the gunpowder shit
8
u/Dylan_Driller 15h ago
There was a video of a dude taking a air pollution metre or something out at Delhi, the day after Diwali.
It was like 14 times higher than the maximum it was supposed to be.
-1
u/camileion-stoz 16h ago
This is not even racist lol. Fuck the people downvoting you. India during diwali is hell. Literally on fire.
-11
u/Mockinglynx 14h ago
Diwali and holi are literally the most lamest festivals.
0
u/ANS__2009 12h ago
Their religiuous implications are actually good. It's just that modern versions are now not for everyone
0
u/Old_Crab0 25m ago
First video of India I've seen not infested with shit. I'm sure the person recording this is munching on some.

And 99% of those lights will be left on the ground or tossed into waterways.
44
u/squidgytree 18h ago
LED string lights? Do you know they are reusable and not just for Diwali? Do you throw away your Christmas lights every year?
50
u/DeepanJain 19h ago
lol, I have never seen anyone throw these lights, people retain them for next year. Stop these hate.
29
u/kiyozezu 19h ago
Indians are stingy, if things can be reused they will not throw them away.
Throwing Garbage in water body is another separate issue.

u/Past_Ad3652 16h ago
Lmao ok bud. As someone who has been to the country multiple times I’ll trust my eyes over your words.

Ah yes. This guy visited several times and every Indian was throwing led string lights on him everyday. Maybe they saw his dark heart and thought he needed some light

Is diwali the celebration that renders the air toxic and unbreathable? Yeah, no thanks
47
u/Nightmare_Fart 19h ago
Yeah the same as many countries new years celebrations and 4th of July.
-43
u/XSpaartanX 19h ago
It lasts for at most a month and at least a week tho.
15
u/SpreadImpossible5542 16h ago
Diwali is literally only a 2 day celebration, why do you guys Love lying?
-16
u/XSpaartanX 16h ago
Lighting crackers starts weeks before Diwali and they are not organised like in western countries. Is this not true?
12
u/SpreadImpossible5542 16h ago
"weeks before" yea like 1week ago and it depends on few specific places, not everywhere. Where the fuck did you get it "lasts for a month"?
-11
u/XSpaartanX 16h ago
Never said "month and a half" do better
5
u/SpreadImpossible5542 16h ago
Yea and I corrected it. You are still wrong, it still doesn't "lasts for a month". Maybe a week Max
-1
u/XSpaartanX 16h ago
Kids do burst crackers a month before. If you live in some private society with bunch of strict rules and regulations, you don't represent 99% of India.
2
u/SpreadImpossible5542 15h ago
I don't and I still haven't seen a single person burst firecracker and Diwali is so close rn. Not everyone burst firecrackers here bruh
15
56
u/denominations1 19h ago
Fireworks do it, not the festival.
And not everyone uses fireworks to celebrate.
16
u/Formal-Fox-7605 19h ago
No, it's probably more to do with the 250-850 coal-fired power stations/units active in India.
The discrepancy in figures is apparently due to some power stations having multiple units burning coal.
Some fireworks being let off can't really compete with that.
13
u/DeepanJain 19h ago
Diwali is responsible for an extremely small portion of the annual pollution season, atleast in Delhi.
9
u/FTM_Fire 19h ago
it sucks so bad, few weeks prior to the festival the air seems fine, but ON and after the festival it just sucks ass.. literally unbreathable, the fucking AQI meter breaks because it cannot measure more than it's designed to. Air purifier companies have their businesses boomin.. Air pollution, Noise pollution, Water pollution etc etc.. everything in this week.
And we just never seem to learn from it I don't know why, it's supposed to be the festival of lights not the festival of air pollution
1
u/Pilot0350 17h ago
It's funny to me how you just validated the comment above getting downvoted by the white nights of reddit but those same people will read your comment and go, "oh wow, that's horrible."
White people are wack.

Ah yes Diwali the festival of noise and explosions that traumatizes our country’s avian life and sacred cows. Still not as bad as Holi, our festival of chemical colors being thrown on every random person trying to go about their business.
Edit: thank you for the awards kind strangers!

u/ManofTheNightsWatch 19h ago
>Sees the most eco-friendly item made for diwali celebration.
>Proceeds to hate on Diwali saying it's a toxic festival.
5
u/therealhlmencken 16h ago
Long lasting well installed lights are way more economical than throwaway string lights
5
u/Facts_pls 14h ago
These lights are long lasting and can be well installed if you know how to do it.
It's no different than Christmas lights but we don't consider those things when it's white people m
1
u/therealhlmencken 14h ago
They are literally making long lasting installed Christmas lights and people are critical of the cheep one season fragile led strings. Lmao
-3
u/ManofTheNightsWatch 15h ago
The cheap ones are super simple to repair. They last much longer than expected.
23
u/TBSsuxs 18h ago
1.3sextillion stars, planets and galaxies but none of them as toxic as your comment.
-11
u/camileion-stoz 16h ago
Yet still not as toxic as the air, noise and water pollution the horrible people who celebrate it this way. Note: I'm not calling the festival or indians horrible.
5
u/Facts_pls 14h ago
You did.
I don't see you complaining about 4th of July or Canada day or other festivals like this.
-3
u/camileion-stoz 13h ago
No, learn to read, I said "who celebrate it this way". Also, those festivals don't affect me because I don't live in those countries. Guess where I live asshole.

It’s looks like someone has run around looking at every step that used to be done by hand, then created a separate machine to do that specific step. Then put all the machines next to each other
Ha, all the downvoters. Compare this set up to other production lines . Notice the difference?
73
u/Unfinishedcom 18h ago
Welcome to industrialization. This has been a thing for a few years now.
-64
u/McTerra2 18h ago
You missed my point by trying to be a smart ass
Most automation is not done by 50 separate machines each doing one step. The steps are all combined done in close sequencing and often combined because machines can do multiple things at once, unlike a human who only has two hands. This is a very basic level of automation
30
u/Unfinishedcom 18h ago
I’ve seen enough ‘how it’s made’ videos to confidently say that you’re wrong.

And now most of this industry of fairy lights are completely dominated by cheap Chinese led imports
