I also thought cornerbacks were sheathing swords
I don’t care if we’re wrong and it doesn’t even make sense. It’s still cooler than a seatbelt!

Came across this 1995 Upper Deck Bernie Parmalee card from my childhood collection and it made me want to think about / put together a DLS-themed side quest colllection.
This idea is about 10 seconds old so thus far all I have in mind is
Need more ideas - LMK!

If Dan retired I’d listen to “The Chair Over There” with Zaslow.

I’ve liked Amin since joining the show. Sometimes he over does it (Brazil soccer) but most of time he does well at holding people accountable. You can tell he’s also a fan of the show since he’s one of the rare ones that listens on his days off.
Finishing yesterday’s show and he was killing it. Especially the renege joke. 😂 he’s good, man.

The show should do a watch-a-long for the world series games and Lebatard should bring on Tim Kurkjian, Adnan Virk, David Samson, or maybe even have on Mike Lowell like he used to weekly back in the old days. I think it's going to be a very compelling series. We don't know what we're watching. The Brewers and Rays are changing the math.

A jubilant home run celebration for a massive franchise moment is utterly “ridiculous” and “disrespectful”, but his behavior regarding this substack mishap is completely acceptable?
Goodness gracious.

When Amin was asking for a stethoscope and a white coat I was hoping Mike’s RFK Jr would show up!
Definitely could do a debate between those two
Also, blood clot…

Or conflict with a midweek lacrosse-mitzah?

It's good to be excited, but its annoying when your baseline is max excitement for every single play. Build to a moment dude

Sirianni is just the latest example, but nationwide, I am so sick of PR BS from companies, teams, celebrities, and politicians. Own it, be accountable, be honest, care about more than the bottom line, and guess what, the public would actually respect you a lot more and be more likely to forgive you. I am so sick of people passing the buck and spinning every mistake.
I would be so much more inclined to back this fool if he had apologized, said he made a mistake, commented on the fact that he is the head coach so the onus is on him, that he should have done better but Jalen wanted to play, and so on. Instead, a buncha word salad about trusting the medical staff and not being an expert. C’mon dog, my nine year old knows you might wanna take a game off with a blood clot and a long flight ahead.
Before anybody says, “don’t you have to listen to the player”, I don’t think so, sometimes leadership is telling a grown man to sit his ass down and get healthy.
For the record, I don’t give a S about the Eagles, Sirianni’s response to questions struck a nerve.

When he made a big production out of "uncoupling" from DraftKings last year and licensing his show to The Athletic, the pitch was that serious investigative journalism shouldn't have a sportsbook logo slapped on it. He wanted sources and listeners to trust that he wasn't compromised.
Except the show is still a Meadowlark property. And Meadowlark only keeps the lights on because DraftKings just signed another massive multi-year deal to bankroll them. Moving your podcast feed to The Athletic while staying under the Meadowlark umbrella doesn't mean you stopped taking gambling money. It just means you put a middleman between yourself and the wire transfer so your hands look clean.
Being a pawn in the corporate structure instead of cashing the check directly doesn't absolve you. You are still building prestige and legitimacy for a company that exists to funnel customers into a sportsbook.
More importantly, you can't call yourself an independent investigative reporter when the biggest scam in modern sports is paying your bosses' rent.
DraftKings is literally tailor-made for a show like PTFO. Right now they are dealing with multi-state lawsuits over "VIP hosts" who actively target and drain addicted gamblers losing their life savings. They are getting sued over deceptive deposit-match promos that require $25,000 in play-throughs to unlock. They use algorithms to throttle anyone with a pulse who actually wins a bet down to pennies, while pushing 2 AM notifications for high-margin parlays to people chasing losses. They even had one of their own Vegas traders wrapped up in the Fresno State college basketball point-shaving ring.
Whenever this gets brought up, people immediately go, "Dan gives him total editorial freedom, nobody is banning him from covering DraftKings!" THAT'S NOT HOW MEDIA WORKS! Nobody needs to walk into an office and kill a story when everyone in the building knows which sponsor keeps their coworkers employed. You don't investigate the entity funding your parent company.
Real journalistic independence isn't about who you are allowed to investigate. It's about whether there is anyone you can't. Until Pablo actually turns the microscope on DraftKings the way he does on everyone else, he'll remain a cancerous cell.
