For all the shit of the USSR, they expedited industrialization while making critial progress in slowing the atrocities of Nazi Germany. Russia went from serfdom to an industrial powerhouse fighting against the greatest international invasion of its time, while providing international aid, and continuing to do so post war. From a populice that couldn't read, to a society fighting by land, air, and sea, curing disease, building schools, educating women, and building farms and bridges in other nations. If it wasn't for the red scare this historical process would be worshipped.
