What do you actually want to happen? What does this have to do with DtG?

I would like to promote the conversation I had with Timothy Ferris here, and build some interest behind Timothy Ferris, the astronomer.

While we’re at it and the point has been brought to my attention, we may as well make the distinction between Tim Ferriss and Timothy Ferris.

Do you or anyone here find Tim Ferriss unhelpful, or helpful?

If you watch a little bit of this video and are interested in any of the characters, which one would you rather watch or hear?

I think someone should make a meme that makes fun of Tim Ferriss— playfully of course, in comparison to Timothy Ferris.

I’ve never been much good at those sorts of things, what do you guys think of this idea?

I don’t know anything about Tim Ferriss other than he’s always in my fucking way while promoting this video.

Hey man, you're referring to my reply - and I do feel bad for the confusion.
I really like astronomy but I REALLY hate Tim Ferris and what he exemplifies. It's gotta suck to share a name with that guy.

Regardless, this seems like self promotion and completely unrelated to DtG

Fair point about the sub’s purpose. I read “guru” as someone worth listening to and missed the podcast context. Managed to get the right Ferris into the wrong room.

I wanted to find people who’d enjoy the interview, but that doesn’t automatically make it a fit here. Appreciate the clarification.

Yes, it is frustrating and it outweighs everything else being said—yes. Well, at least thank you for being rational and talking with me. Some people just dismiss me, and it’s only because I get excited to post and share this kind of information.

I just watched a video of Tim Ferriss for the first time, and I want to buy two DeWalt drills and just ram them into my ears, all the way down the eustachian tube to the brain.

Absolutely horrible. I didn’t realize it was that bad. No wonder I’ve been getting such negative comments upon first impression.

He can’t be that bad all the time, though, right?

Was Tim Ferriss once an asset to humanity??

I wouldn't know how to assess whether someone is "an asset to humanity".

However Tim Ferris is a self aggrandizing bullshit artist and he produces recycled hot garbage. I hate that his kind of content is popular. Might be a nice guy personally.

However, as I said... Even with your video, you're in the wrong place for that - apart from the fact that it's kinda rude.

Hint: "he's a guru" isn't a good thing in this subreddit

I'm gathering your earlier post got removed? And you are trying to promote a video that has nothing to do with this sub? That is probably why. I expect this post will be removed as well.

If this sub is not about gurus, and people that are seeking wisdom, what’s it for?

That is what I gathered.

Please help me out here, I’m not asking for something bad. I’m just trying to promote my, in the words of this forum, “guru”, which again he is one!

This is a sub for a podcast. Do some research about it, read the description of the sub at the very least man. You say you're a journalist!

Tell me you haven't looked into what this sub is about for 3 seconds without telling me.

It's really not cool to just Willy Nilly shoot your links all over communities like that...

Edit: so would you say he has a GALAXY BRAIN?

A galaxy is what he explores, Ferris—he's an astronomer. He looks through a telescope so powerful that you can see fine details of stars dying hundreds of billions of years ago.

It’s a fascinating topic, and I did believe it leaned in that direction.

You’re right, I’ll slow down with my spamming. I don’t want to build a bad reputation or cause any ill will towards you, so I’ll just say this: Thank you.

I appreciate all of you straightening me out. Don’t take this as a hostile attempt to just throw together whatever garbage I have and spam your forum.

This is my first video and the first time I’ve really used Reddit seriously. I’m trying to learn, and that’s how you do it—trial and error.

So thank you. You have every right to be a jerk, but I’m just giving it right back.

Are we clear here?

Are we cool?

Why wouldn't we be. Good luck with YouTube!

Trust me, if you listen to him, you’ll understand what I’m saying.

Feels like a perfectly reasonable thing to post, maybe professional football referee and dtg host Chris Kavanagh can issue a ruling on it

Hilarious.

I can join and I’ll follow your instructions here, I’ll watch the podcast and become a functioning member of this sub. I like you guys you’re sensible.

Thank you for all of that.

I now know, I will need to read myself of Tim Ferriss.
