A lot of people tell Harry James is a hero though. It's why Harry feels ashamed when he finds out James was a bully. But I love this edit because it does give those vibes the previous person commentated. James is also shown saying: "Lily, Take Harry and run." And: "Until the very end," Which shows great loyalty.

Not to mention the guy we saw the pov of James being a bully from was a guy who clearly hated James

What does a POV have anything to do with it? This is a memory and memories are an objective truth. If you are thinking James and his group were not bullies then I think you didn't read the books as James used to hex people who slightly annoyed him and they used to bully Snape as a group for years for no reason other than to have their own fun. The author has also confirmed this many times.

The hell are you talking about ? Slughorn literally gave Dumbledore a doctored memory of when he told Tom about horcrux that’s why he needed Harry to convince slughorn to give him the real memory.
Also no reason ? Snape was known for constantly trying to get them into trouble and he hangs out with death eaters.
When snape was being bullied Lilly ended up saving him but she soon confronts him as well and reveals the truth.Snape is friends with death eaters and one of his friends attacked a muggle born not long before this to which James and Sirius were seeking revenge for.
"Mulciber! What do you see in him, Sev? He's creepy! D'you know what he tried to do to Mary Macdonald the other day?" - Lilly.Snape was evil who brought this upon himself

Certainly, Professor Slughorn has meddled with his own recollections.

And in real life memories are not really that reliable cause people get things wrong all the time.

Yes but what does slughorns scene have to with this? It's canon in the books that this is his own memory that he kept aside so Harry wouldn't see them. You are reaching way too hard if you think the bullying is fabricated it's not.
Yes they did bully him for no reason ever since he stepped foot in hogwarts the author herself confirmed this. The rivalry and Snape joining the cult only started later on. During the memory itself Lilly asks "what has he done to you?" Clearly implying that snape had done nothing to them they just did it for fun. James also replies with "he exists" disgusting tbh confirming they do it for no reason and not just to snape but james used to curse anyone who annoyed him it's all very much in the books.
In a lot of fanfics of the marauders this rivalry is established early on or it's implied that snape was bullied because of a heroic reason but that doesn't happen in canon , these kids made his life hell just for their own fun even the author said that multiple times.

While it does look bad they pick on snape due to association that is just how it works it’s like being in a gang, they went after snape because he was with the wrong people it doesn’t matter if he’s the one who pulled the trigger he’s still with the gang and that’s why they went after him.

dude no they went after him because they were bored even Sirius in the books says he is NOT proud of what he did. You cant make up stuff when the books have said otherwise, they did it for fun, it turned into a rivalry very later on the initial 5 years were just 4 on 1 cowardly bullying.
Its completely fine to change the story in a fanfic but we cant deny what actually happened while discussing canon

Snape does the same tho? He changes for the better too. He goes from a death eater to a potions master and the guy who helps save the world and helps defeat Vold.
Can you provide the source for this obsession argument? The books clearly state it to be love so I have no idea where you got that from.
Yes Snape was a deatheater in his past and he called Lilly a slur but that's exactly where he is shown to change after Lillys death. When the portrait calls Hermione a mudblood Snape very clearly says "DO not say that word".
