I don't think you're supposed to tell people either. Good thing it's not the world of darkness.

Magic is more like an exploratory science that expands perception by revealing hidden and missing links and has the surface appearance of being an artistic styled pseudo science to those unfamiliar with the concept.
For example, tarot cards are specifically designed to speak the language of the subconscious mind through symbolism.
Look over the cards before you shuffle them face down, your subconscious mind will place the cards in the area within the deck they need to be placed and in a reading the cards will act like a medium through which the subconscious will use to speak.
Another example is magic circles, they can be designed in many different ways, but hereâs the MTG one as an example.

Notice how there are 5 main subjects in a pentagram circle that combine and overlap creating 32 total categories and the subjects are color coded to show the relation between the subjects.
This is a conceptual mapping system that can be applied to many different subjects and it helps reveal hidden connections in the nature of the subjects.
The more you learn, the more those ignorant to the system will be unaware of how you discovered or accomplished a scientific feat to the point of it seeming like magic.
Meanwhile a basic tool for alchemy is a mortar & pestle and it can take you pretty far.
I myself used mathematics to discover the measurements of the ingredients of skippy peanut butter and using my mortar & pestle I successfully recreated the taste of the peanut butter, but I failed to get the consistency right because I didnât have the means to hydrogenate vegetable oil and settled for chunky over creamy.
