Posts and comments should be focused on questions regarding interior room design and decor for your personal living space. That means no exteriors, no patios, no gardens, no front doors, etc. Interiors only, home rooms only (not your office away from home). Please do not ask construction/building questions.

Before and after posts showing ideas you received here are allowed. Please be considerate and do not lean too far off topic.

Just an fyi. If you have pets or dust allergies this kind of set up is a nightmare. It traps a lot of dust.

Literally feeling my dust allergies activate just looking at this

You definitely couldn't hang the big metal death spike thing without drilling. But if you're okay settling for just the nearly weightless sheer fabric, fake ivy, etc: I'm sure some cheap 3M Command hooks would work just fine for this.

Maybe on the walls but even if you have a smooth ceiling that you could adhere a 3M hook to the weight will be pulling perpendicular to the adhesive which is a recipe for rapid failure. A small hole in the ceiling that gets patched later is a much better bet.

This may be true. But it's a very cheap and low stakes experiment to try it if they're just doing fabric and really aren't willing to drill. I routinely hang a 1 kg (2.2 lbs) on a perpendicular hook without failure so maybe. Definitely must be smooth though.

No to the command hooks. The paint and paper backing on the drywall doesn’t like normal tensile loads. The adhesive will rip a hole in your ceiling.

Source: I tried exactly this solution and had to patch and repaint a ceiling.

If you’re in Europe, Tesa sticky hooks are the cheaper Command hooks.

nothing to support real weight safely. there are drillbits and screws called anchors made for concrete though!

fabric is deceptively heavy. Drill if you want this amount of fabric of this influencer.

if you absolutely cannot drill, you will have to build/purchase a structure. you could make a modified version of this ( https://formufit.com/blogs/news/pvc-monkey-hut-for-burning-man )and maybe PEX tube sanded and stick some LEDs inside.. attach bolt to the bed's base (for securing vertically) and wrap in jute/rope (lateral and some sheer stability) and then ziptie whatever fabric wherever.

I’ve used adhesive hooks like these. Just be careful to read directions for them and be careful removing because they will rip the paint off the wall. One tip is to take a hair dryer to melt the glue before removing them. Also don’t use them in bathrooms or near a hot or moist area because they will fall off.

I used adhesive hooks and push pins for something similar and it worked great

There are screw in hooks. No 3M sticker needed. Definitely only good for light objects see here

Sorry just realized you said the walls/ceiling are concrete 😅

you can screw the hook into a small piece of wood and use liquid nails in a caulk gun to adhere the wood to the concrete. paint the wood to match the ceiling color and start hanging drapes!

You could probably use glue and strong magnets somehow?

-18

u/tenkko_fox 1d ago

Can you use push pins? If not, maybe really strong tape of some kind?
