Geopolitics News/Discussion Your worst day probably doesn't look like this

Next time you're mad the internet's slow or someone cuts you off in traffic - remember these guys, wet, cold, exhausted, caked in mud, and still smiling while they fight through winter for democracy.

The weight of liberal democracy is on their shoulders.

I feel ashamed that I cheer for them to keep going and dying to protect my ass while the best I can do is talk shit about Americans that elected Russian sleeper cell instead of doing anything remotely productive to help

As a non-American, it boggles my mind that there still aren't mass anti-Trump protests in the U.S.

French students routinely get blinded by riot cops protesting over, checks notes, education underfunding - meanwhile a fascist takeover of the most powerful nation on earth barely merits a whimper.

Trump is democratically elected, there's not just much options on the table. We could protest and boycott, but it's not meaningful without coordinated and massive logistics for a country the size of the US.

Republicans have Russia, Qatar, China, tech bro billionaires. What do liberals have? CNN and Chorus?

If there is enough Riots and chaos then Congress might find its fucking spine and do what they shoulda done a year ago and get rid of him and his cabal

The French economy is quite a bit worse off right now. Protesting is also the national pastime for them. We had No Kings in the US, which was a significantly bigger, albeit non-violent, protest compared to the French riots.

The difference between No Kings and the French is that the French doesnt stop until things are changed. No Kings marched around and Trump made an AI video of shitting on them and thats that

There have been more protests for fucking PALESTINE and it fucking kills me.

The unfortunate reality is Americans in general do not have any actual engagement with politics/have no conviction in their beliefs. In really is as simple as the general public of America won’t ever protest like the French do until the vast majority of Americans are really suffering. At the end of the day, our slip into authoritarian fascism is hurting minorities in our population, but many people are still going about their lives. Sadly, politics is really just treated as a game in America.

For a good example, Trump had been doing such disgusting, authoritarian and fascist things that undermine everything America stands the entire term of his second term before the war in Iran that started this year. And yet, while obviously his approval rating wasn’t particular high, the big shift in approvals was really after the Strait of Hormuz closed and gas prices started going up. When you combine that, with the fact that even after Trump tried to overthrow an election and circumvent the peaceful transfer of power, he was still voted in as president, should tell you everything you need to know. Americans don’t care. They won’t until things really look scary for the average person.

just so you know for average ukrainian "Liberal" means "leftist" and "leftist" means "communist".

And more "right" you more normal you are (they don't really know what being on the right is, and more like everything i like must be on the right and based, everyhing i dislike is on the left) Sometimes they are not comfortable with word "right" so they would call themselves "centrist" while holding every right opinion ever

I’m ashamed that our President gives Russia everything while Zelenskyy and Ukraine have to beg and plead and get harassed in the oval office to defend their country. Makes me sick with sadness and anger.

I beg the Democrats to not reelect Schumer and Jeffries as their leaders and to elect someone with stronger convictions (Like perhaps Chris van Hollen for Senate majority leader and Jamie Raskin for the Speaker of the House) and to push their Republican colleagues to resist Trump’s blatant appeasement of Russia.

Pass some bill to sanction Russia, keep Russian assets frozen and put 1000% tariff on Russian oil and push Republicans to overturn Trump’s veto.

That should at least take care of Russian economic stagnation until Trump is out of the picture.

If Ossoff truly isn’t going to run for President I would love to see him be Senate Majority Leader. He’s such a rockstar for liberal Democrats, and is a fighter.

Meanwhile the Russians are raping and torturing their own men while stealing their pay and denying death benefits to their families

its so saddening that this is what ukraine has to put up with because of russia's baseless and reprehensible war to conquer their country. i continue to hope and believe that ukraine will rise out of this, despite trump and putin's constant attempts at subjugation nya nya... => ~ >=

That's the thing with emotions. We all have a baseline and any changes in our lives, whether they're positive or negative, we go back to that baseline. A million dollars doesn't help with our perception of the world around us.

Andy McNab (British sas guy, famous for "Bravo two zero"), once said in one of his books something to the effect of:

'Even now, years after getting out the army, on cold, wet evenings in the middle on winter, I will make myself a cuppa and take a moment to think of the poor bastards out there in a fox hole, shivering and wondering why the fuck they ended up there"

A few years after reading that, I joined myself. Now I am 40+, I also get it. Going to make a cuppa now.

i mean absolutely no offence, but this is pro-pally slop, but Ukrainian-flavoured. Ain't nothing wrong with that, just the double standard is funny.
