General Discussion - All Dexter Shows I just finished Dexter for the first time Spoiler

I started watching the show in august, and honestly I didnt have high hopes, since I have seen other really mainstream TV shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, and all of them were good but none of them really blew my mind.

The first season was good, but after I finished it, I still didnt think this show would be anything special. Well, I was wrong. I originally planned to watch two episodes a day, but I binged through Season 2 in two days. When Doakes figured out who Dexter was, I couldnt stop myself from watching just one more episode, then another, and suddenly it was 5 am, and I finished season 2. Doakes was my favorite character, and looking back, I think hes the best antagonist in the entire series, so I didnt know what to expect after he died.

Season 3 was mehh, it started off excitingly, and at the beginning I was still really into the idea that Dexter had killed pretty much the worst possible person, since one of his brothers is a district attorney and the other is a sheriff. The Miguel-Dexter dynamic became repetitive for me after a while, but the ending was good once Miguel died, and they finally started doing something with the George King storyline. I dont even need to talk aboutseason 4 its clearly the absolute best season of Dexter. Plot twist at the end was tragic, but I wasnt expecting Ritas death at all, so it worked. Season 5 felt to me like Season 3, only with Lumen instead of Miguel.

I know Season 6 is very controversial, but I really liked it, and I think Travis is a good antagonist. In season 7, I didnt like that a bunch of random new characters showed up and suddenly took center, but the season was exciting, especially the season finale. And then theres season 8… I dont think it was bad, but up until episode 10–11, I felt like the show wasnt making any progress toward wrapping up the story. Afterward, I watched the New Blood of course, the concept is really good that years later Harrison somehow finds Dexter and Kurt Caldwell is also an amazing antagonist in my opinion. Original Sin was a bit weird without the original actors, but I think its a good addition to the universe. And then Resurrection was amazing again, I just finished it and I cant wait for Season 2. Im already planning to read the books as well. And now I dont understand people on tiktok saying Dexter is mid, because this show is something else.

Moral of the story: ignore people on TikTok. In fact, delete TikTok.

Yeah, your right, I understand that many people may not like the show, but its definitely not "mid", hadnt had a single episode rated under 8.0 on IMDB for 84 episodes straight.

Quite similar feelings since even I have finished watching for the first time this month only. I personally though liked Miguel and lumen part. And truly the show is different from your mainstream shows a lot. My least fav was deb dying. The show definitely has some loopholes and missed opportunities but nevertheless it's a good one time watch.

I was a late starter to Dexter. And absolutely love this show. Every once in a while I’ll rewatch it and I still love it.
A couple years ago a guy moved in next door and had his garage door open and I could see where he had built a wall made of plywood facing the garage door. He had hoses, hooks and some sort of machine hooked onto it. I told my daughter “omg I think we have a Dexter next door!” Got a piece of his mail by mistake and to this day I don’t remember what his real name is. He will always be Dexter to us. Plus he’s a dick.

Well, I’ve seen it three times and there will be more rewatches! To me, it’s the best show, Breaking Bad was a great show, but Dexter, in my opinion, is the best series ever.

Was a big fan of season1 and 2. 3 and 4 were good too though I think s4 was overrated and most people are just blown away by the ending. 5 and onwards was bad imo.

lumen is so much worse than miguel. lumen has such a traumatic story and the actress is so so so bad. it just makes it painful to watch every scene with her. at least miguel could be kinda funny and entertaining.

I tried watching the first episode but tbh it was too boring, didn't catch me.
