Question Looking for a flac player
Hello 👋
I need a music player that can play flac files.
I do not need:
- bluetooth
- Wifi
- Android
- a lot of features
- streaming apps etc.
I need:
- very good audio quality (if the best audio quality available costs more than 100 dollars (or € for me) then I’m okay with not having the best quality but it still has to be really good for the price. Because there’s a reason why I listen to flac and not mp3 files)
- a player that can play flac files obviously
- a lot of storage or extendable storage (ideally sd / micro sd card) where I can put the flac files that I have on my pc
I’m willing top spend about 70 € / $
If anyone knows of any, I would also like to hear about websites or youtubers who review these audio players and whose reviews I can be sure aren’t sponsored.
Thanks in advance

Hiby R1 ($69.99) / Tempotec V1 ($89.99)
Both do have wifi/bluetooth/some streaming apps - but it's entirely optional if you use them. Support up to 2 TB microSD cards and definitely FLAC.

You've bought into the hype.. there's no audible difference between a 320kbps mp3 file and FLAC and the main reason to use them, is the future desire to transcode them. https://www.academia.edu/441306/Subjective_Evaluation_of_MP3_Compression_for_Different_Musical_Genres

I'm just practical. I've got a music library to listen to it.. not to create an archive for all mankind. If I can't tell the difference; why use more storage?
Although on a side note, I wonder if we'll see an 'upgrade' to mp3 like we've just seen with JPEG -> JPEG XL .. you can transcode lossy images, to another lossy format, without loss of quality, but still a reduction in file size.

Take a look at the Fosi Audio DAP Neo - just ordered mine, and I'm thinking this fits your ask nicely, if $10 over budget. https://fosiaudio.com/products/dap-neo-mp3-player

Expansion is up to 256Gb, can play flac (have one). The DAP is OK for its price, can't say it has firm FIIO neutral output but it has only 3.5mm, and, perhaps, UI/UX experience can be messy, but DAP reminds me of DAPs from 2006-2010s

Zaqe p30 - great value at 79usd. Only issue is the screen size - issue for eyes over 45. However much customization possible due to android and symphonium playing from plex server was a difficult combination (apart from local playback) that this player pulled off.
