Porch Talk ☕️ Just testing out the porch flairs with some late-night frequencies...

Hey everyone, since the Bossman gave me the green light to share some hobbies, I wanted to drop a little thing I worked on recently. It's an audio-reactive 3D vector field controlled by Ableton automation and an own developed oscilloscopemusic visualizer. While building it, the visuals started looking like a weird metaphor for human connection: From monotone baselines to complex chords, we all shift frequencies based on who we hang out with. Until the phase shifts, and the symphony turns into beautiful chaos. Just a little "sciart" experiment from my hard drive. Hope you enjoy the vibe on the porch tonight! Let me know what you think. 💜

Wow. That is really cool. Is this what you call "sciart?" Even cooler that you use Ableton. I was trained on Digital Performer then someone once gave me a copy of Ableton for free, I tried it out for a week but gave up. It's too much work to shift between DAW's so I stuck with Digital Performer. But Ableton does some cool stuff for sure!

I feel the pain, DAW muscle memory is real! I only survived the switch because I had a solid mentor and a programming background. It actually led me to develop my own real-time visualizer that renders stereo sound in 3D using 2D XY plotter calculations (think Jerobeam Fenderson / Oscilloscope Music). I'm actually thinking about making some tutorials on how I built these tools in the future.

Fun fact. I worked as a live sound engineer for bands and music groups for 20 years and I could easily (with just a couple hours of prep time) go between digital soundboards, ones that I had never used before (my favorite is the Soundcrsft Vi6). I thought the same concept would apply to DAW's but no, I was definitely wrong about that! They are too complex and too different from one another.

20 years on the road with bands, respect! Good to know who's chilling on the porch with us. 😄 Cheers!

SciArt, yeah, in a way. Normally it's academic stuff, but I'm a non-graduate.
