I just don't see how a show like that fits into todays absurd world. It was so very much a product of its time and society. They should probably abandon Chris Carter's never ending mythology type of stuff for the most part. It's hard to take todays FBI seriously in any way.

I hope that it isn’t like the Twilight Zone reboot Jordan Peele did “and this week, yep, it’s another story about race stuff. Because that’s all we ever talk about… in The Twilight Zone”.

That’s what worries me.
I said this somewhere else: I know Coogler is an important voice in the areas he stands for.
That’s great.
I don’t want to be lectured every week. I live in Seattle. We are as blue as blue can be.
Give me aliens and conspiracies. I don’t need to hear how I’m bad every week even though I have nothing to do with any of that stuff.

You could also just not watch it

This is the dumbest moronic take ever.
He is rebooting the X-Files. It’s established. I don’t need to be preached at.
Look, he has made a career showing the plight of his people. Hell, I’ve enjoyed a lot of it and seen all of it.
But there is a time and place for things.
The X-Files isn’t the platform for that.

Look I don’t disagree and I wasn’t saying he should ruin the franchise of the xfiles I’m just saying that there is a lot of garbage made and I won’t watch it. They made a war of the worlds recently, I refused to watch it. It’s not a moronic take in just saying don’t watch it if you don’t want to be preached to.

Fair point.
I’m just tired of people pushing their nonsense and when you push back they tell you to not be involved.
“Just leave the country.”
“Don’t pay attention to…”
Bleh. No thanks. I friggin love the X Files. There’s a time and a place for commentary and social arguments but not in my X Files! Ha ha.

Im with you on all that. I’m actually watching it right now. Still holds up after all these years.

X files always had underlying commentary on race, colonialism, etc. Not that it got it right all the time, but it was there.

Sure. And I’m ok with that. I love horror and X-men.
What I don’t need is to get beat over the head with it.

Sure, every TV show ever might have an episode or two that touches on issues, that’s totally normal. I’m talking about every. single. episode. as if no other story idea / issue exists. No one wants this to be Malcolm X-Files.

This is clearly destined to flop but I'll give it a fair chance. I think this guy would be better off doing Twilight Zone esque shows. I don't think he can handle long form stories.

Why’s that even a surprise, it was given especially after sinners winning Oscar’s.

I'd be more concerned if this pulls the "classic" Netflix scenario where it's cancelled after Season 1 or 2. And left on cliffhangers.
