temp goes up when i’m sitting still. i was in the taco bell drive thru waiting and i noticed it going up. after i started driving again it went way down. a buddy of mine said it could be the water pump

I have an opportunity to purchase a late 90s with a 2.5 amc 5 speed trans.

Little over 100k. I know nothing about these engines.

I read theyre a 4 cyl version of the jeep 4.0.

Anyone have experience? Do they run forever like 300k or run forever like...150-200k?

This is a nice clean 2005 Dakota. The mileage is 97,000 but it’s unverified. Based on the condition, I’d say the mileage is correct. It has the V6 and RWD. It drove great. There was a slight whine in the rear end. No rust. Price is $5,995. Worth it?

I originally purchased this truck as my first vehicle, and everything seemed fine when I inspected it before buying it. However, once I got it on the freeway, it struggled to reach 60 mph and began overheating, so I had to trailer it home. I was able to get half of my money back after the seller told me it had never had those issues before. I’m not sure whether I ended up buying a lemon or just had some seriously bad luck. After bringing it home, I replaced the water pump, thermostat, alternator, drive belt pulley, and belt. However, when I started it after completing those repairs, I noticed an engine knock that wasn’t there before. The engine sounded normal when I was loading and unloading it from the trailer, so the knocking seems to have developed sometime afterward.
What should i do?

(2004 dodge Dakota extended cab, 258000)This morning, I bumped into a curb my back right tire went out. I put my spare on. and took it to a tire shop to get it replaced. I spent some money so I decided to buy entirely new spark plugs and coil packs considering my truck has been misfiring. My friend helped me replace them and we did nothing but replace the coil packs and spark plugs. The first time I started the truck up. I would slow down and it would make the noise in the video I would turn my wheel left and right and it would sound just like that with a sudden loss of power as seen in the video. This is my first vehicle and I have no idea what’s going on with it if anyone has any ideas please and thank you. (If your wanting to be a dick or troll just move on with your day)

Hey everyone, I just picked up my first truck, a 2004 Dodge Dakota SLT Plus with 84,000 original miles. It runs and drives great, everything works, but there’s some surface rust and flaking on the frame. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth putting money into fixing the frame or if I’m better off cutting my losses and moving on. Would appreciate honest opinions from anyone who’s dealt with frame rust on these trucks.

I js got my coolant flushed and refilled I went to a shop called half price auto repair and the temp gauge is a lil more to the COOL than it is in the middle and I’m worried it might not be bled correctly.
Before I go to the shop and ask em to bleed it I need other opinions to see if it’s nothing.

I bought pre gapped iridium spark plugs for my 04 Dakota 3.7 v6 and installed em thought nothing of it when halfway I looked under the hood and saw the factory recomended was 0.040 and the ones I bought were 0.044. I continued installing em bc I was too lazy to take em back out.
Will it come back to bite me in the ass or is the 0.004. Difference fine

Hey ya’ll…. Any one on here done a transfer case motor change on there dodge Dakota?

Do I need to remove the front drive shaft yoke? How hard is that to get off? Anyone been able to just raise the transmission (and play around with that) and then wiggle the motor out and in?

Any advice would be great

1991 3.9 5 speed with 50,000 original miles. First time ever driving a manual and I had to get her over 30 miles home so I probably beat the clutch up pretty bad unfortunately but everyone has to start somewhere. Owned by a man who drive it minimally for a weekend gardening business until he died.

Working on my friend's 02 Dakota (4.7 AT 4WD 4WABS) after a front line rusted through. Replaced both front lines from the elbow junctions, plus a caliper that was in rough shape. Pedal is not amazing after a couple rounds of manual bleeding, suggested that we purge the ABS module with a bidirectional scan tool and then rebleed. My coworker's SnapOn Ethos couldn't do it, nor an Autel MaxiCheck Pro that I snagged mainly for this project. Supposedly the late 90s-mid 00s Chryslers can be a chore with a relatively uncommon protocol (PCI?). Mobile mechanic wanted $200 just to bleep bloop the purge on the OBD2 port, which I thought was a little abusive. Can anyone confirm which scan tools can do the task? I'd rather not purchase another tool if not absolutely necessary.

Perhaps there's a slim chance that we have a bad ABS module or something also. Two fuses for ABS are good, but she doesn't recall it ever triggering in several years of Minnesota ownership.

So I found a truck cap that fits my 99 Dakota perfectly and it was a hell of a good deal. I’ve located the taped off CHMSL wire hanging near the spare tire on the right side of the vehicle. It looks good to go so that is simple enough. I have found a harness that I believe I’ll be able to just solder right to it, ground the black wire, and have brake illumination galore on the third brake light.

My predicament is: this cap also has an interior dome light. Since the brake light will only illuminate with the brake pedal, will this require running a separate new 12v wire to the battery in order to use the dome light?

looking for this connection it’s to a 1991 dodge dakota 5.2L EFI V8 4x4 i rebuilt the ecm but still shutting off i think it’s this plug

96 dakota v8 5.2 4x4, about 171k on the dash. Weird vibrations while driving at times. Side mirrors lose function and bounce up and down making visibility very minimal. Have been toying with AI and it has told me it could be my power steering fluid running low. But I want a second opinion
