This Statistical Coincidence Is Beyond Incredible
I checked the at bats, average, and hits and they match up.

Obviously, it sucks to lose. But I’m not going to complain about this. Is there anyone that would rather have these switched, with the Brewers winning last year and us winning this year? I don’t think so. I’ll still take the back-to-back titles.

Agreed
Best case this year was we threepeat
Otherwise someone who hasn't won for a long time, or ever, gets it, also illustrating that we are not singlehandedly ruining baseball
I'm disappointed but not despondent. Threepeats are hard.

Exactly. Ready to call out every hypocrite who claimed we were ruining baseball while we wait on the winner of 28th payroll vs. 30th. Not to mention a Chicago White Sox team that is only a few years removed from the worst record in the modern era.

Three World Series titles in 6 years. Let’s shoot for 4 in 8.

Exactly where I'm at. I'm not mad, I'm a little sad, but in the end if it's not the Dodgers, hopefully it will be a first time winner. Either way, I'd be happy with any of the teams left winning it

Also baseball is hard. The fact that the dodgers can win 3 out of 6 years is remarkable.

Brewer fanbase is mostly pretty cool and makes losing to them easy to swallow.
Padres/Giants/etc fans have been trying to troll Dodger fans for failing the 3 peat, unaware that it's more of a constant reminder of us having done back2back.

It’s like we and the Brewers decided to take turns for the WS. Hopefully it’s our turn again next year.

No need to hope it will

Ya’ll gotta make some changes if you wanna win a World Series again next year. Maybe don’t carry 3 DHs.

We had the juice last year, the Brewers had it this year…baseball is really something man

This hurts but also feels like justice. Sweeping the Brewers last year felt unreal. This feels like payment

u/LikeAgaveF Alex Vesia 1d ago
If this is the required payment for a World Series championship, I'll take it.

Brewers hit 1 hr in 2025
Dodgers hit 1 hr in 2026
d is a backwards b

When I first saw this I brushed it off as bullshit. One of the wildest statistical coincidences I've seen.

Honestly this is pretty neat. Baseball is just full of interesting statistical coincidences.
Was curious and dug into some other stats for both years.
2025 Dodgers SLG .461 vs 2026 Brewers SLG .445
Not too surprising considering baseline power abilities.
2025 Brewers 14 H, BA .118, OBP .191, SLG .193
2026 Dodgers 23 H, BA .185, OBP .270, SLG .250
So at least there was a bit more fight in there vs the Brewers in 2025.
2025 Dodgers 1.00 ERA, 2.14 FIP, 11 BB, 41 K
2026 Brewers 2.25 ERA, 2.88 FIP, 14 BB, 33 K
2026 Dodgers 5.56 ERA, 4.81 FIP, 18 BB, 45 K
2025 Brewers 3.71 ERA, 4.93 FIP, 17 BB, 37 K
So the Dodgers pitching in 2025 was absolutely amazing obviously. But with these 4 teams, the only time ERA was higher than FIP was for the 2026 Dodgers and that does kind of make sense because the Brewers just felt like they had a shit ton of balls not necessarily getting hit hard but just getting through gaps. Now I don't think better luck would have made a difference in the end result but maybe the series at least could have felt a little bit closer most games? Though that would have ended up being even more heartbreaking.

All you can do is give them the hat tip and prepare to return the favor again next year. Hopefully we get a rematch

No fucking way. That would be more like a statistical anomaly. Never seen such a thing

I doubt that's accurate.. if it is, it's beyond freaky

it's accurate.
But keep in mind.
"Dodgers Swept the Brewers" in 2025
2025: Game 1 was a score of (2 - 1) and Game 3 was (3 - 1)
Our offensive power hasn't really changed from 2025.
A sweep was a sweep but consider that the Dodgers in 2026 would score 1 run on game 1. Then 2 runs on Game 3.
Let's say we had perfect pitching in 2026. Thinking that we can just skirt by to the World Series with 2 games that had a total of 3 runs is bad news. Brewers had 9 runs in their first 2 games.
21 runs vs 11 runs. I don't see any team winning a NLCS or WS with just 2 or 3 runs in each game.

Putting the same average is redundant right? If you have the same at bats and hits, you're guaranteed to have the same average

Looking forward to our next regular season series with the Brewers. We switched teams with them this year.

This series was essentially how the ws felt vs the jays without Yamamoto carrying.

The 2025 Dodgers vs the 2026 Brewers would have been a great series.
