Manny Ramirez the Next Hitting coach! He’s looking for a Hitting coach job

The rumor is he’s looking for a hitting Coach position. As you can remember at one point, we used to have Mark McGuire. Who says no to this?

Lol just cuz he was a great hitter doesn’t mean it translates to him being able to communicate and teach it effectively. See Bonds.

Yeah, sometimes the greats are just like “everyone just turn on that inside fastball and put it in the seats… what are you, stupid?”

u/vanvoorden Shawn Green 1d ago

As Wee Willie Keeler used to say: "Keep your eye on the ball and hit ‘em where they ain’t."

Bonds is a bit different. A bit of an asshole

It's been well documented that being an asshole was a form of payback for his father who was badly mistreated and faced a lot of discrimination and racism. Barry basically said fuck you to the media ..I'm going to make you feel just as uncomfortable as what you did to my pops. A villian arch if we ever saw one. Griffey Jr saw the same with his dad being mistreated but handled it differently and refused to ever play for the NYY.

Beating my wife and mistress because my father experienced racism

Bonds actually helped develop guys like Stanton and Yelich when he was in Miami .. yes he's an asshole but the players love him and so did Tommy Lasorda. It sounds sacrilegious but Barry would be a tremendous hitting coach and elevate a guy like JDP.

Exactly, to assume he can't communicate to players without having any jnfo on if he can is insane. The guy was a great hitter and we need a shakeup in hitting philosophy.

Having seen his interaction with reporters, I strongly doubt he can be a good coach, any coach.

See Ted Williams.

You are right! Certainly he’s better than what we have right now 😂

u/weeters143 1d ago

based off what? The Dodgers offense in the regular season has been a top offense for the past 3-5 years, but because they go dark for a handful of games in the 25 and 26 postseasons, now its time to change?

0

u/RemoteBoner Brent Honeywell 1d ago

I get what you are saying but the reg season and post season are 2 completely different animals and we clearly could not adjust to the brewers despite seeing the same guys over and over

8

u/weeters143 1d ago

Because the Brewers played well and the Dodgers didn't because the Brewers pitched well over a 4 game series. That's it. 4 games. That doesn't mean you change. your coaches or approach because of 4 games in any postseason form

4

u/Stonefencez Max Muncy 1d ago

We had bad approaches against the Braves and most of last year’s run as well. We won because of fantastic pitching and a few clutch homers but we were only batting around .200

2

u/weeters143 1d ago

Good pitchers facing good hitters is going to cause inconsistent hitting and just as inconsistent pitching. Especially in sample sizes of 5 to 7 games. That doesn't change anything I said

4

u/BlurryEcho Andrew Friedman 1d ago

Or hear me out… all-new postseason hitting coach role filled by none other than Kiké Hernandez.

1

u/weeters143 1d ago

Hitting coach only for the righties when facing lefties

1

u/g_spaitz Clayton Kershaw 21h ago

So is the whole league when October comes, hitting barely above 200 because pitching gets much more selective.

1

u/Stonefencez Max Muncy 11h ago

We had like, historically bad hitting numbers for a WS champion last year. It just feels like it’s been a trend where our guys can’t hit in the postseason, and we can’t rely on Yamamoto to do the impossible every time

1

u/LengthObjective2253 Roki Sasaki 1d ago

Keep what we have going but have some players who can play small ball when the long ball isn’t landing. Dodgers have 3 WS in their name past 6 years with the technic we have

2

u/weeters143 1d ago

They're not going to have starters who play small ball. And when the long ball isn't landing, that means those hitters are slumping. asking them to play small ball when they are not built for that isn't worth it

2

u/sEiize_err Gavin Lux 1d ago

everybody thinks they can coach from their couch

35

u/Alternative_Ad_5510 Cornelius A. Dodgerfan 1d ago

Great idea. Maybe he can teach the players how to pass a drug screen with a fertility drug.

u/avocadoflatz Kiké Hernández 1d ago

If them’s not already using recovery aids in the off season then are they even trying to win it all?

17

u/CoffeeDefiant4247 Back-2-Back Champs 1d ago

being good at it doesn't mean you can explain it. There's been a lot of greats who said "Just hit the ball" or "Just throw it in the zone" because it came naturally. Maybe Miggy Ro as coach

9

u/commie90 Kiké Hernández 1d ago

My theory is the best coaches tend to be people that were good but not great players. Probably because they know their own weaknesses and are also more aware that they have things to learn.

3

u/CoffeeDefiant4247 Back-2-Back Champs 1d ago

they had to learn how to play. You can't teach what comes naturally

5

u/That_Attempt976 2025 WS MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto 1d ago

Miggy Ro will be the vibes coach.

13

u/Pupside_down Joe Davis 1d ago

Nah, he cheated and got caught, leaving the Dodgers short handed before the postseason. He’s not a good guy.

You must've never done anything bad in your life

Ha!

(In manny accent)
“Hey guy, is me! Manny Ramirez! All jew gotta do is swing really hard, den hit the ball really really hard. Den, bye bye beisbol! Is easy!”

u/Dodgers_89 Fernando Valenzuela 1d ago

The current hitting coaches already say that lol

As long as RVS is out, I’m ok.

1

u/weeters143 12h ago

Why? Because the players didn't do their jobs?

2

u/lpomahony Los Angeles Dodgers 10h ago

Number 2 team OPS in MLB, consistently near the top every year. Doesn't stop the geniuses on here from thinking they know more than the people who orchestrated the greatest era in Dodger baseball. Don't bother arguing with them, you can't fix stupid.

I find this a bit off since hes been in videos this year with a hitting coach working on his swong for him and his son. Coach Murph next hitting coach then?

6

u/brees2me Back-2-Back Champs 1d ago

He couldn't be any worse than RVS.

0

u/Executive-111 Mookie Betts 1d ago

That’s what I said and got massively downvoted 😂

I’d love to see a new hitting coach after the last two post season but I don’t know who will be best. On the other hand miggy should move to the infield coach job on the prospect level. I’d love to see him work with the young guys on improving defense in the infield. They desperately need infield prospects to start popping up cause our infield is aging fast

3

u/xrbeeelama Rocka Outman 1d ago

JD?

2

JD Martinez

JD Drew ?

Our guys already know how to hit homeruns...they need a coach that can teach situational hitting, moving runners over, making productive outs...

u/01z28 Back-2-Back Champs 1d ago

If McGuire didn’t work out why would he? lol

11

u/RivalSlays 2025 WS MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto 1d ago

Maybe because they’re two different people?

Not saying it would or wouldn’t but that’s not really sound logic.

Crazy take

From the first legitimate core of the 21st Century capable of being world champions (late-2000s) to possibly managing the current core trying to again become world champions, what a character arc if Mannywood returned home. 😇

2

u/_MeetMrMayhem_ Los Angeles Dodgers 13h ago

I would love to see Shawn Green who was teammates with Doc become the hitting coach...or our old friend Justin Turner

4

u/avocadoflatz Kiké Hernández 1d ago

Count down to Suspiciously Swole Mookie

Idk if much of the current fanbase could hang with the allegations but count me in Meng!

4

u/CharacterAbalone7031 Clayton Kershaw 1d ago

Usually I’d say this is just gonna be another Barry Bonds situation but Manny was known to spend hours tweaking his swing mechanics. The real question is would he be reliable enough to hire?

If I had my choice of ex player to become hitting coach I’d go for JD Martinez

2

u/eddiengambino Kiké Hernández 1d ago

JD Martinez would be awesome. I remember reading about him working with Mookie during 24.

2

u/CharacterAbalone7031 Clayton Kershaw 1d ago

Yes that story is why I say him particularly. I was shocked nobody picked him up last year as a DH.

3

u/Round_Bus874 1d ago

Hire him. I need more manny in my life!

Idk if he'd be a good coach but his pinch hit grand slam is still one of my favorite dodgers moments

1

u/lo0ilo0ilo0i Tommy Lasorda 1d ago

He gonna give the team PEDs and say Manny being Manny.

I mean, after this last season we could probably use some fresh blood in that regard, haha.

u/MRVERYBIGMAN Shohei Ohtani 1d ago

Like players, they gotta prove themselves in the minors. I think that's where he wants to start out anyway.
